Well.
The hot air balloon ride adventure began at 6:15 this morning.
We took off right as the sun came up and drifted over southern indiana for about an hour. It was awesome. I was surprised by how perfectly smooth and calm it was. Quite relaxing. It was kind of a weird feeling to just be up in the air in a basket, but I recommend it! The leaves were beautiful and the fog and frost were awesome to. Although, we were freezing our asses off the entire time. We ended up in a field in memphis, indiana, and our chaser was right there to greet us.
History lesson:
Hot air balloons originated in France. They would launch from the palace of Versailles and then land in random farmers fields. Of course, having never seen any big huge thing dropping from the sky before, people were a little freaked out and hostile towards the people in the balloons. SO, the king issued a...law? Rule? Good idea? That everyone had to carry champagne on their flights, then share it with the landowners when they landed, so the people would see something familiar and not freak out so much.
SO, it is still a tradition for everyone to drink champagne after a hot air balloon ride. We had some mimosas when we landed then they gave me the rest of the bottle to finish off since it was my graduation celebration present...
3 cups of champagne when you haven't eaten in over 15 hours and you havn't drank alcohol in a while = good times.
Nothing like some sweet liquor on a sunday morning.
yes.
happy halloween lovahs.
