so on monday, I watched a video of someone accidently killing themselves. It freaked me out.
We are studying "erotic asphyxiation" in my sex crimes class. We had learned about auto-erotic deaths in my criminalistics class, but didn't have to watch anything crazy.
Apparently there are people who get off on cutting off their blood supply by wrapping something around their neck. A lot of times people will tie a rope or whatever to something, then wrap one end around their neck and lean forward until they start losing consciousness then straighten up. This is obviously dangerous because people will overestimate the time it will take them to pass out, so they don't raise up, and basically hang themselves.
So this one guy liked to record himself doing this. He hung a rope up in his garage, stepped up on a short stool, put the rope around his neck, and stepped off the stool. Stayed there for a bit then tried to step back up, but passed out before he could. So his body was just hanging there twitching...his arm muscles would tense up in these bizzare movements and his hands closed up in to fists and his chest kind of moved in and out.
it was awful.
the teacher for that class is also the cornorner, so im sure it wasn't a big deal for him, but i thought it was scary.
