LOL - what does that mean? It means I'm not as young as I used to be and more than a lot out of shape. What I could do in an afternoon now seems to take 2 days. However, it has been a productive weekend in that with Eileen's help, I finally painted my bedroom a lovely soft green and put up the lace curtains I had in my room down south, only this time there is only one window instead of three. It really looks lovely, enough so that you don't notice the drab old carpet. Like most older homes, the rooms are somewhat small and with my bedroom set in place, you don't see much of the floor and it's an expense I don't want to take on right now. Anyway, it took me 2 days to get that done!! That's pitiful.
Also, I paid my lawn guy to dig up an area for planting and while he did a good job, I still have to bust up the big clods of dirt and add topsoil. I can bust clods for about 20 minutes or so and then I have to come in an rest for a long time. So, here I am resting from my last round. I think I have about 3 rounds to go. I'm looking forward to having tomatoes, green beans, green peppers, yellow squash and maybe some cucumbers or one pumpkin vine (for Nate and Claire). S-I-L Suze wants to plant lima beans and even though I don't like them, I'm ok with sharing my garden space. There's a bunny poking around my yard already and I'm wondering how I'm going to keep Peter Rabbit from damaging my veggies!!!
I have company for dinner tonight. My plan was to smoke some pork loin, but my smoker, which is electric kept tripping the circuit so I gave up and put them in the oven. I think it will be ok though. I need to go get some milk and barbecue sauce which I don't want to do. LOL I was up early as usual and put a pineapple upside down cake in the oven for dessert. It came out beautiful!! Meg and Wayne and the kids are coming over with corn on the cob. Eileen is bringing potato salad and Celia and Jerry are bringing a fruit salad. Sounds like a good dinner, eh?
Next saturday is my garage sale which is going to entail a great deal of work for me - I have to move all the unpacked boxes out of the garage and put up tables and upack the boxes, pricing stuff I want to sell. Then there is a huge amount of crap in my breezeway. I will be so glad to be unburden of so much STUFF. What I don't sell is going to the LaSalette fall bazaar.
Well, I'm cooled off now, but not ready to dig so I guess I will play a game and forget about what I used to be able to do in a day. I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
