I'm 31! Whee!
Eliza's kids didn't get a chance to call yesterday, so I got a phone call from them today after work. Eliza acknowledged my existence, Sherma chatted for a few, but Ruby, my little ducky, talked to me for 50 minutes. She's five.
Favorite thing she said? "I love you, Amy, and you are very, very, very special to me."
My heart. It melts. I love this little girl. I love how happy and excited she was to tell me happy birthday, how excited she was to hear about my plans for us when she and Sherman come to visit this summer (I CANNOT WAIT), how excited she was to read me an enitre book, how excited she was to tell me I was a Wright and Mommy used to be a Wright but is now a Meeks and she has a Grandma and Grandpa Wright and a Grandma and Grandpa Meeks. (Seeing a theme here? She gets excited about everything. She reminds me of me at that age.)
She told me about her favorite friends and going to the park and reading The Hobbit with Daddy. She started complaining because Sherman was bothering her and he wouldn't leave her alone, so I said brothers are good at bothering, and she told me, "Yes, Sherman is a very good botherer."
She told me about their kitties and how kindergarten is almost over and how she can read a lot of words now. She wants to wear her Cinderella dress to the last day of school and she's going to have fun playing this summer.
She told me Mommy's phone was almost dead, and sure enough, fifteen minutes later, our call was abruptly ended.
I love this little girl, and even though we are thousands of miles apart, she still loves me, too.
