You ain't never too old to eat french fries with the guys

Samwise, Harry Potter, and I have been friends for several years now (six, I do believe), and have engaged in a myriad of activities over the years. Several years back, spur of the moment--actually, I think it was Harry Potter's birthday (real Harry Potter's birthday, July 31). In honor of the occasion, we dressed up in Harry Potter garb (which is how Harry and I initially became friends anyway) and decided to have a fry eating adventure. We picked up fries from Wendy's, Burger King, and McDonald's (McDonald's refused to take our wizarding money), camped out at the cougar in front of the football stadium, and taste tested them. We had a grand old time.

We've always meant to repeat the evening, but didn't get around to it until tonight. When I saw the pair of them at the last stake activity, we made firm plans to get together tonight and recreate our evening of glory and actually set a date (if you don't set a date with Harry, it won't happen. Even if you DO set a date, it still may not happen (bless his heart)). I've been looking forward to this all week, especially given the horrendous work week it's been. But then the clouds opened up and God said, "I hate you, Alfalfa!" and we had to move our evening inside. So instead of grabbing fries from multiple places, we convened at McDonald's and ordered an obscene amount of friends. Betwixt the four of us (Captain America joined us at the last minute), we ate 20 chicken nuggets, six large fries, and two medium fries, with a healthy side of ketchup smoothie. :D

It was a delightful romp. These boys are good chums, and I always enjoy hanging out with them. We have an interesting friendship pattern. We'll hang out and do 3 - 5 things together in a relatively short amount of time, then go months and months without really seeing each other. Then we'll come together at some event, plan a couple of things to do, do them, then go months and months without seeing each other (rinse and repeat).

It's a good pattern for us, actually. I love Harry, but boy, are we different people. He's extroverted and outgoing and does things all. the. time. and I would be exhausted if I had to be his regular friend. But hanging out in bunches? Totes manageable. And then I get to go home and have some quality solitude! :D So I have tentative plans to see them again soon to watch Over the Garden Wall (a fabulous show, by the way) and then again to watch Thor together. Then we probably won't hang out again until April.

And now I get to go digest all those fries. They're made from potatoes, which are a vegetable, so they're totally a vegetable, right? :[] (Don't answer that, mother!)
