I got home from work today just after five, content to plant myself on a couch and vegetate all evening. I'd have my computer, my book, and my phone. What more could I need?
Then I opened my computer bag and discovered my book was missing!
DUN DUN DUNNNNN.
Momentary panic seized me before I realized I'd left it sitting on my desk at work. Knowing I'd never make it through an evening without my faithful companion at my side, I grabbed my school keys and car keys and headed out the door. Thank goodness school is just a quick jaunt over yonder; I've have been utterly devastated were I left to my own devices for the evening.
Merrily singing Taylor Swift, I drove to school and dashed upstairs to my classroom. Unlocking the door, I strolled through, spotted the book, and said, "Book! Mine!" before reaching out to cradle it with such love and devotion as only a book can know.
Then I dashed back downstairs, hopped in my car, and returned to home.
I'm now on the couch, truly prepared this time for a delightful evening.
O Book, how I love thee!
