Baltic States!

My three-week vacation started last Friday at 6 pm and I must say I've been enjoying it, mainly by doing nothing. I planted my wonderful beans on one of our fences hoping they'll be proliferating all over it in no time quick. Since I had them in a glass on my window sill for a while helping them to sprout, one is already peaking out of the ground, even though I just put them in the ground on Sunday.

Saturday, one of my friends from work got married and I dressed up rather nicely (for my standards), because I was expecting to be in most of the wedding pictures, since I was sort of hired as a translator for his groom to translate the speech of the Standesbeamtin, the registrar. That was fun, particularly considering that one groom was from Italy and had brought his whole family, and the other one from Israel, also with a huge family, and a lot of co-workers from the rest of the world. It was a very international thing.

Afterwards Frankfurt was celebrating nothing really, as always, and made a huge parade with several marching bands and a brass band, but that's not really correct, it's one where they have a lot of flutes and chimes.

And now for the best bit - my vacation. Here's a map of our planned road trip, which of course isn't planned at all:

Vacation!

This will be our road trip. These are the only destinations that we are more or less sure about. Click here (or on the pic) to get to the Google Maps page.

The plan is this (among other things): Go to the Baltic Sea and stick our feet in the water!

Well, and first Dresden to pick up some things and say hello to the family, then Szczecin, to say hello to family, then go along the Baltic coast to Gdansk, then avoid Kaliningrad because we don't have a visa and look at Vilnius, then to all the way back to the coast to chill on the beaches of the Curonian Spit, at some point go to Riga and take a ferry back to Germany.
We'll be off soon-ish. I took time off until June 21, and my significant other has roughly two weeks but maybe more. I'm currently waiting for an important letter, but I guess if it doesn't arrive until tomorrow I'll leave anyway.
