Hey!
A speedy update on things at the moment - in a life where I can afford to own boxsets of all of the gloriousness that was x files, xena, stargate, and bsg... I've just finished xena season 3 and have been kept waiting by royal mail for season 4 (sulks). As I recall it, s4 includes the controversial episode 'The Way' which was pulled from the UK schedule due to (gasp!) slight lesbianness (and these days television has to have blatant sexuality of any and all varieties to make it onto the airwaves, tut tut for 90s prudishness)- and I haven't seen that ep, so hurrah for dvds! And I only ever saw s8 of stargate on squinty so I am indeed rather happy to be seeing Teal'c's new hirsute style in GIANT size on our TV.
Today has turned out to be SUNNY after all this rain, and I had to trawl round the shops to find a costume for a fancy dress night on hockey tour (next week in Portsmouth, squee). We're all going as The Incredibles, so red lycra abounds. Honestly, 20 hockey playing women (and the Thighs of Doom) + red lycra is not really an outfit of choice. Trinny and Susannah would not approve (the masks will not improve the situation). Hurray for Primark however as where else would I find an orange belt for a fancy dress party at £3?
Enjoy the sunshine everyone and have fun!
I've been running a lot lately and have been persuaded to run in Oxford's Town and Gown 10K tomorrow motning. It's my first race over 10K and I'm rather nervous about it, though I'll be running with people I know. I ran a 3K last month for charity with work people and managed to come in 3rd, as the first woman runner in, so am hoping to pace myself properly and not fall over and other silliness. The event is for the charity Muscular Dystrophy, which is of course a very worthy cause, and if anyone would like to contribute by sponsoring me, I'd of course be very grateful, as would the charity. My page is at www.justgiving.com/kmjohnson .
I work in a big industrial estate in the shadow of a power station, so I was amazed to find a beuatiful little running loop just minutes from work, behind a very old church and manor house, near a little stream. I startled a fox and several tiny rabbits while I was out the other day in my lunch hour - it beats staring at my screen all lunchtime by a very big factor! I think I'll carry on training even after the race as it's good to get away from the office for a bit, as the news article all over the BBC have been saying for a few days...
Oh and the papers have arrived for the selling of the boy's flat in Leeds, so next week we're going to be signing the papers for our new house, which is near to Blenheim Palace, where Winston Churchill was born - it's a seriously beautiful area, and we'll be able to run through the grounds as soon as we live there. My life is actually awesome at the moment. I am grateful.
*sends happy thoughts*
bye guys - Cal xx
