Hello, hello, hello, haven't I been away for a while?
Yesterday was a glorious day - the last day of freedom for the next two months, as I battle with dissertation deadlines and finals and grad. I'm almost finished with my dissertations (one on apocalyptic writing and the other on experimental writing in modernism) and am finalising my drafts for the rest of the week - and the strange thing is that I'm actually coming to enjoy it...
Anyway, on with my glorious day - I saw Coldplay live last night in Hackney! It was a secret gig for about four hundred people, half of whom were VIP and guests of the band, and we had no idea where we were going to be: we just had to turn up in London and get on a coach to the mysterious venue. There are long and tedious details of the day, but to sum up the immense-ness of the gig: we were front row, dead centre, about eight feet away from Chris Martin. They were playing new material from their upcoming album, 'X & Y', as well as the best material from their previous albums, and it was thrilling, atmospheric, enthralling - I had the most amazing time. It was all very under-wraps, and we weren't allowed cameras or phones or anything; nothing that would give away details of the album before it's released.
When they played 'The Scientist' I thought of
suzvoy's SJ music vid and swooned just a little bit.
If you ever get the chance to see them.... dudes... it was awesome. Come to think of it, have they done well in the US yet? If not, half of
you are missing out!
So yes, a very good day. Now I must get back to work - when these go in next week, I'll have 40% of my course over and done with. Nearly done.
Anyone want to give me a job?
