*misses hockey*

I was left half, and sometimes left wing, yo. What's that in modern parlance?

I have a scar on my chin, where two sticks meeting the ball sent it flying upwards. I did not cry, being all stoical.

Is that astroturf you're playing on, hence the skinned knees?

My eyebrow scar was a plank, when I was five. The doctor wanted to swap me for one of his sons, because I had three stitches without anaesthetic and did not cry.

why don't you play any more?

They have a geriatric league?

I have lost my fitness. Something I said I'd never do, but life sometimes has cruel turns. But I'm playing table tennis again, which is a step in the right direction.

Which teams are you thinking of joining? And why them in particular?

Lol, very brave. I'm a bit of a wuss and have always refused proper stitches - just got butterfly ones or glue (I'm vain ( ... )

y'know, if you started now, you could be fit for next season...

That's probably true. I like running in the wood - across the road, down the track and I'm there - but it's far too wet and muddy at the moment. Still, I could put on boots and gaiters and walk, since the woods are quite hilly in places, so it's a good cardiovascular workout.

ooh - me too! at my parents' house i mean. over the road and down the track into the woods. and i'd probably get washed away if i ran down there at the moment!

*sends exercisey vibes* do it do it do it!

today was the first day of the year that i've been desparate to be outside (i was working on my dissertation, sadly). managed to get a bit of air cycling to and from class, and it was glorious. makes me want to grab a horse and set off trekking, put on my trainers and go running, grab some friends and walk someplace hilly...

outsideness, hurrah!

I know. I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to live there and not pine away for the outdoorsy side of life, but it's likely that I'll have to. It should be fun living there with my friends for a few years, but I'm not planning on settling there permanently...

It's really strange. I love yorkshire and it's likely that my immediate family will stay there for at least the next few years, but I see myself as living anywhere a decent job will take me - I don't feel geographically tied. I guess that's from coming a way away for uni, and since my friends are from all over the place (not to mention the one from Bolivia, America, Poland, New Zealand... she's lived everywhere)...

Very open-horizon-ish today. Once I get beyond the immediate concern of my desk and my exams, I mean...

Not being geographically tied is good. I love my home turf and would find it hard to leave, which is a tie that sometimes binds far too closely.

Good luck in the final exams.
