Just as I was finding these mortal children desperately wearisome, I had a new student today. Her name is Calliope. She told me that her father loved "the Classics". Have you ever heard a six year-old solemnly tell you about "the Classics"? It is simply charming. She told me that they have a cat at home, whose name is Apollo. More and more delightful!

She is teased about her name, though. She seemed so sad about it that I told her that I once knew a Calliope with eight sisters and a demanding tomcat called Apollo and they all lived happily ever after (except for the tragic Muse, of course). It made her smile, at any rate.

Have any of you encountered people or creatures named after you? I think it is quite flattering.
