A/N2: My apologies for the far too long delay in updating. How ironic considering the title! This fic just ended up way longer than I expected, but by the time you get to the end, I doubt you'll complain. :D
Part 2
Natalia’s dark eyes dropped to Olivia’s lips, “I like to take a different approach sometimes. Sweets first, spicy later. But, right now, I think we should focus on dinner, don’t you?”
Olivia quirked an eyebrow at the double meaning behind Natalia’s words, thinking she liked this flirty side of her, “Dinner it is then. For now.”
Natalia started filling their plates so she wasn’t looking directly at Olivia, but the older woman could clearly see a smirk playing at the corners of her mouth.
“Sit.”
“Yes ma’am!” Olivia smiled as she watched Natalia move smoothly around the kitchen, setting their plates out, getting the salad, and finally pouring hearty portions of a Merlot.
“Trying to get me drunk, Ms. Rivera?” Olivia eyed her over the wine glass as she sipped the warm liquid.
Natalia struck a match and leaned over to light the sandalwood candle in the middle of the table, before turning off the glaring overhead light, suffusing the room in a romantic, warm glow. She sat down opposite Olivia, lifting her glass.
“Do I need to get you drunk?”
“No. Trust me, I want to remember tonight.”
“Me too,” Natalia lifted her glass higher, “A toast…to no more waiting.”
Olivia’s heart jumped at the look in Natalia’s eyes. It was somewhere between raw carnal lust and adoration, hungry and giving all at the same time. She found it hard to find her voice as they clinked their glasses together, and when she did speak, it was huskier than usual, “To no more waiting.”
Silently, they began to eat, or something like that. Every time Olivia would lift her fork, her hand would shake. She took a large gulp of her wine hoping it would ease the nerves and just when she thought she had herself under control, she looked at the gorgeous woman across from her, shyly flashing her dimples at her.
Then it occurred to her as she watched Natalia that she wasn’t alone in her predicament. Because there Natalia sat doing more rearranging of the food on her plate than actually eating it.
Olivia made a decision and it had nothing to do with the food. She stood and offered Natalia her hand, “Come here.”
“What?”
Olivia looked down at her, “The last thing on your mind right now is food. I know what you’re thinking because I’m thinking it too. Come on.”
The younger woman closed her eyes, willing her wobbly legs to function as she reached up and tried to stand. She didn’t want to wait. She wanted Olivia. She wanted to have the nerve to push Olivia against the wall and kiss her with abandon, to throw caution to the wind and boldly undress the woman she loved and make love to her. But she was scared. She told Olivia once that she was afraid of everything and it was so true, but as she looked into Olivia’s tender eyes, she took a leap of faith. She was afraid, but she was going to put her heart and body in Olivia’s hands.
Olivia took her by the hand and Natalia followed her into the living room. Olivia guided her to the sofa and sat down next to her, angling herself so she could look at her.
“Talk to me.”
That wasn’t what Natalia was expecting her to say, “What?”
“We need to talk and you’re better at it than me.”
Natalia smiled shakily, “I doubt that, especially right now.”
“Why?” Olivia held her hand and looked at her with encouragement. She needed Natalia to do this, to say this, make this leap with her.
“Because I’m nervous,” Natalia was looking at their bound hands and realizing how perfect they looked together, “But I don’t know why. I’ve known you for so long, and if I should feel comfortable with anyone, it should be you.”
“I’m nervous too.”
Natalia looked at her shocked, “Really?”
Olivia couldn’t help but laugh a little, “Yes, really. This is out of my realm. I’m not used to feeling…out of control. I always liked control, Natalia. It kept me from getting too close, falling too hard. But I can’t do that with you. You…you do something to me that makes me weak…but in a good way. I stopped trying to fight you and fight us, and I let myself fall. It’s been the best thing that’s ever happened to me, but I’m terrified too.”
Natalia just watched her, amazed at the vulnerability in this woman, who can rule board rooms and apparently most bedrooms too pour her insecurities out, “I never thought you’d be scared of sex.”
Olivia smirked and tilted her head to the side, “It’s not the sex that scares me. I’m actually really looking forward to that. It’s letting you down. Before we got to this point, we were friends…best friends, and I don’t have best friends, so more than anything, I’m afraid of losing you, of losing what we’ve had,” Olivia took a deep breath, “And I’m scared of not being good enough for you.”
The pain in Olivia’s eyes, the shear heartbreak that crossed her beautiful features, hurt Natalia. She felt the pain that Olivia was feeling as if it was her own, and she hoped that she hadn’t put the doubts in her head. Gently, she reached to lift Olivia’s chin to look at her and brushed some hair behind her ear, letting her fingers lazily trace her jaw.
“Oh, Olivia. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me too. You weren’t the one I expected, but you’re the one God’s blessed me with. You’re never going to lose me, and you will be good enough for me because you were made for me.”
Olivia saw the glimmer in Natalia’s eyes as she fought back tears and her heart clenched, “You really believe that. That we’re made for each other?”
Natalia leaned closer, her dark eyes locking on Olivia’s mouth, “Yes, I do.”
“How do you know?” Olivia was mesmerized by the dark eyes, taking her in and devouring her long before they touched.
Natalia lifted Olivia’s hand and placed it over her heart, “Because I feel it here. The heart doesn’t lie.”
Olivia waited, afraid to move, not wanting to frighten Natalia but desperately wanting to let her hand graze over the swell just below. Her body shook with anticipation as Natalia slid her hand away from her own and she felt it come to rest on her hip. The brunette was close enough that Olivia could smell her shampoo, and when she felt Natalia’s warm breath on her face, she instinctively turned to her, letting their lips lightly brush against each others.
The moment passed through both of them like an electric shock, making Olivia gasp at the sensation, her mouth opening. A rush of urgency raced through Natalia when she heard the small noise Olivia made and she finally closed her eyes and gave in, their lips fitting together perfectly as tongues slowly moved across each other.
Natalia moved fully up onto the sofa, straddling one of Olivia’s legs, as she pulled her closer at the hip and deepened the kiss. Olivia moaned, feeling the kiss deep in the pit of her stomach, twisting inside as a slow ache started to build.
Olivia snapped out of her stupor when she felt Natalia’s heat against her thigh, a slow sway of jean-clad hips rolling against her, suddenly waking her up to the moment. With a gentleness she didn’t think she could still possess, she grazed the tips of her fingers down and over Natalia’s breast, caressing in a light circular pattern until she eased Natalia’s nipple to attention. Natalia broke away from the kiss with a gasp, her eyes laser-focused on Olivia and then down at the hand kneading her breast. A low growl preceeded Natalia diving back down for a deeper kiss, her own hands wandering over Olivia’s back seeking to pull their bodies closer together.
Natalia pulled away from the kiss again but this time she began kissing the sensitive hollow spot below Olivia’s ear as her hands worked their way over Olivia’s bare shoulders.
Natalia muttered something unintelligible in Spanish but Olivia caught the word “amor” so she knew it was a good thing, however, when Natalia’s hand dipped between their bodies and sought to push down her flimsy blouse in pursuit of Olivia’s breast, Olivia stilled the wandering appendage.
“Not here.”
Natalia’s breathing was ragged as she pulled back, “Why not?”
Olivia raised the hand she was holding and kissed the knuckles, “Because we’ll never get another first time, so I want to do this right. You deserve that.”
She then kissed the palm of Natalia’s hand, letting her tongue barely tease the skin under her lips. Natalia felt the intimate gesture deep inside, and she practically swooned with the sensation.
She swallowed and looked into the smoky green eyes opposite her, dancing lightly with longing and mischief, “So, what do you have in mind?”
Olivia slid out from under Natalia, much to her dismay, and stood up, “Wait here. I’ll be right back.”
She watched as Olivia bounded up the steps to her bedroom, where she closed the door. After a couple of minutes, Natalia got worried and wondered if maybe she was given some clue to follow her that she didn’t catch. As soon as she set her mind to follow Olivia to the room, the door opened and Olivia came back down the stairs.
She held out her hand to Natalia, “Ready?”
Natalia felt her heart jump wildly at the meaning in that one little word, but she trusted Olivia so she silently reached for her and followed her up the stairs. When they got to the door, Natalia turned to Olivia to say something, but Olivia placed one finger over her lips before replacing it with her mouth. It was a soft kiss that was more romantic than passionate, but no matter how hard Olivia tried, everything she did had a little bit of passion to it. She could simply be brushing her teeth and it could be sensual.
When Olivia slowly pulled back from the kiss and reached for the knob to the bedroom, Natalia really should have known what would greet her would be anything but ordinary because when Olivia did something, she always did it big. Natalia knew her chin must have been on the floor, but she couldn’t help it. When she stepped in, she felt herself surrounded by the gentle warmth of what must have been at least twenty candles of various shapes and sizes around the room, even some in the bathroom that she could see through the open door.
Natalia turned to look at her in wonder but Olivia stopped her, “I got lucky. I knew you liked candles and had a couple in here, but I went looking for matches and found like a whole stash of them under your vanity so…I lit them…all of them.”
Natalia shook her head, “I see.”
Olivia then got a panicked look on her face, “Oh, forgot something.”
She ran to the CD player in the corner and quickly found a CD that was perfect. The soft, hypnotic Celtic sounds of Enya slowly filled the room. Before Olivia could turn, she felt arms encircle her waist and Natalia’s warm voice teasing her ear, “You are perfect, you know that?”
Olivia turned in her arms, “No, you are and you make me want to be better for you.”
Natalia smiled as she pulled Olivia closer, “I think you succeeded beautifully. I don’t think…I don’t…,” Natalia couldn’t find the right words so she finally just said what was in her heart, “Thank you.”
Olivia looked at her oddly and brushed at some errant hair in Natalia’s face, “For what?”
Natalia’s voice was soft and Olivia had no problem imagining the young girl from so long ago, nothing more than a scared pregnant teen all on her own, “For caring. For wanting to make this right and okay. No one ever cared enough to try, so thank you.”
Olivia couldn’t speak around the knot in her throat. She wanted to say how wrong Gus and Frank had been for not giving her the care and attention she deserved. She wanted to say that she deserved to be loved and cherished and adored. She wanted to say so much, but all she could do was pull her close and hoped that Natalia felt how much she loved her.
Natalia closed her eyes and let herself drift on the emotions surrounding her as Olivia held her safely in her arms. The haunting vocals built to a crescendo and suddenly Natalia realized they were dancing, slow and sensual. Olivia’s hands caressed the now relaxed muscles along her back and when Olivia’s fingers slid just underneath the hem of her shirt, she felt every nerve ending stand at attention. She became acutely aware of the feeling of Olivia’s breasts resting perfectly above her own and their hips effortlessly gliding together as if they spoke a common language all their own.
Leaning back, she saw the green eyes darkened with the need they barely held back and in that moment, she knew she wanted this with Olivia. She wanted this shared intimacy, this deeper connection with her. It wasn’t like she had many sexual experiences to judge from but she knew she had never felt the overwhelming urge to bond with another person like she did with Olivia. She had heard that sex was a way for spirits to connect and it was the only way for our souls to get close. She had never really understood that until now, until she looked into Olivia’s eyes and saw the soul she had been missing all her life.
She traced the line of Olivia’s jaw and watched as her hand slid down over an exposed collarbone and skimming across the skin just above where the low cut material started. Her fingers dipped and paused at Olivia’s cleavage. When she looked up, she noticed Olivia’s breathing had picked up and her eyes were closed. She couldn’t resist any longer as she replaced her fingers with her mouth, sneaking her tongue out to taste the skin better. She let her fingers tease down Olivia’s sides, sending shivers through Olivia’s body, until both rested just under the hem of her blouse. She looked up as her fingers snaked their way under the shirt and up and over dancing stomach muscles that seemed to be flexing rhymically with each advance of her hands.
She watched in fascination as Olivia’s head tipped back when her hands slid up and over Olivia’s breasts, the nipples quickly coming to attention against the lace bra. Natalia wasn’t sure what overcame her at that moment, but she felt a sudden shift inside and she had an aching desire to see all of the beautiful skin her hands were touching.
She pushed up at the shirt, “Take it off.”
