Part 3
Even before she made it back to their room, Olivia had it all planned out. With two hours to kill before it could even be remotely close to dinner time, she quickly changed into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt before Natalia could get back to the room.
When Natalia entered, out of breath, she gave Olivia an odd look at seeing Olivia zipping a bag and slinging it over her shoulder, “What’s up?”
“I have an appointment with the salon in 10 minutes, gotta run.”
“Oh,” After their obvious flirting on the hike, she was surprised to see Olivia had no intentions of hanging around.
Olivia stepped closer, smirking at Natalia’s confusion. She ran a hand along Natalia’s arm and noted the shiver that passed over the brunette.
“I’ll be back in an hour and a half. Think you can be ready by then?”
Natalia’s brain couldn’t quite function as Olivia’s hand slid down to hold her own, “Ready?”
“For dinner, of course.”
“Oh, yeah…yeah, dinner. I’ll be ready.” Olivia bit her lip, enjoying Natalia’s response to her touch. If such a small gesture did this, what would a kiss do? The thought made her heart flutter in the most pleasant of ways.
Olivia adjusted the bag on her shoulder and turned to leave the room. At the loss of touch, Natalia came back to her senses, “What should I wear?”
Olivia turned back, smiling. She took a moment to look at Natalia, savoring the sight, her voice noticebly softer, “Something blue. You look amazing in blue.”
Natalia could only nod her response, the tone of Olivia’s voice far more intimate than she’d ever heard. She flopped down on the bed and closed her eyes, “Oh Lord, I’m going on a date with Olivia Freakin’ Spencer.”

She checked her watch for the 20th time in the last 20 minutes, and she had made just as many passes in front of the mirror, making sure every stitch of clothing was in place. She looked one last time, swearing she would just sit down and wait after that. The royal blue blouse opened low to reveal the tight black camisole underneath, fitting black slacks and high heel black boots. She grabbed a scarf from the bed to add a splash of color. At first she placed it inside the collar then changed her mind and put it outside.
She stopped herself when she realized she had moved the scarf to reveal her cleavage. She ran her hands through her hair, shaking her head, “Dear God, I’m actually trying to look seductive for her.”
It would have shocked her if it hadn’t felt like the most natural thing to do.
“Well, if I’m going to do this, I should do it right.” She then grabbed a nearby hair clip and loosely pulled some of her hair up to reveal her slender neck.
She looked at herself in the mirror, “Yep, Natalia, you’re a goner!”
The knock at the door made her jump, and she quickly made a fast track for the door only to stop herself and count to ten before opening. The make-them-wait philosophy had come from her mom. She hadn’t put it into practice when she was 16, but she hoped it wasn’t too late to test the theory out now. Maybe it actually works!
With a deep shuttering breath, Natalia opened the door to see Olivia leaning against the door jam. For a moment, Natalia couldn’t respond so she just gawked openly. The low cut blue dress that nearly matched the color of her own shirt perfectly was snug in all the right places against Olivia, clinging to her shapely hips and long legs.
“You look…stunning,” Natalia complimented.
Olivia blushed, tucking an errant strand of hair that had fallen out of her clip behind her ear, “Thanks, so do you.”
They stood there and simply looked at each other before Olivia finally cleared her throat and broke the spell, “So, are you ready to go?”
Natalia nodded and stepped out to close the door behind her. When she turned, Olivia had her arm out, waiting. Natalia smirked, appreciating the chivalry of it. From anyone else, it would have seemed obnoxious, but from Olivia, it was the epitome of romantic. She readily slipped her arm through Olivia’s, resting her hand on Olivia’s forearm. Even this most innocent of touches caused Natalia’s heart to race as her fingers traced Olivia’s bare skin.
“So, where are we going?”
Olivia pulled her arm back to take Natalia’s hand in her own, “It’s a surprise.”

After a short drive, they arrived at a secluded restaurant overlooking one of the nearby lakes. The Maître d’ seated them at a corner table by the windows that looked out over the lakes to the setting sun kissing the mountains in the distance.
Natalia sighed, “This is an incredible view.”
“I’m glad you like it. I got lucky with the last minute reservation.” Olivia felt mesmerized watching the golden hues of the sun enhance the shadows of Natalia’s brown skin.
Natalia smiled, “I like it when you’re romantic.”
Blushing, Olivia took her napkin and tried to deflect, “Yeah, well…don’t let it get around. I do have a reputation, you know.”
Natalia took her own napkin from her plate, “Oh, I know! But I’m glad you let me see the real you. That’s what made me fall for you.”
Olivia swallowed hard as her heart did a flip, “Say that again.”
“Which part?” Natalia giggled.
“That you fell for me,” she shook her head, “I still can’t believe it’s real.”
Natalia reached across the table and took Olivia’s hand in her own, running her thumb softly over her fingers, and simply looked at their hands together. This all felt so right.
“I have a hard time believing it too. Of all the people in the world, I ever imagined loving me, I never imagined someone like you. With your beauty and fierceness and your depth and strength…it’s…overwhelming.”
Olivia fought the tears in her eyes, “Stop that, you’re going to make cry.”
Natalia squeezed her hand, “No crying. Not tonight. This is our first date. Let’s enjoy it.”
The waiter came up quietly, hating to interrupt the moment, but shyly giving both women a smile of understanding, “Evening ladies. May I interest you in a drink?”
Olivia noted Natalia’s slight delay as she sought Olivia to take the lead, “Bring us your best wine.”
The waiter nodded and stepped away. Natalia looked at her and shook her head, wondering how she had ever gotten so lucky, “Their best?”
Olivia paused, looking at their hands still intertwined, and she stroked Natalia’s wrist with her thumb, “Only the best tonight. We’re celebrating.”
