It's funny, really, that I haven't posted since I got back...I thought I was going to have a nice, relaxing couple of days. Funny how that works. And now I have a whole lot of things to catch up on.

So, on Thursday, duchessofpower and of_polyhymnia and I went to see "Sky High", on duchessofpower's recommendation. Ok, so, honestly, the trailer for that movie makes it look like the stupidest thing in existence. What the trailer fails to get across is that the movie is intentionally cheesy, as a delightful parody of superhero movies. It's not actually taking itself seriously, the way it appears in the trailer. And so what looks like the absolute low point in cheesy Disney movies is actually a rather delightful, goofy, and lighthearted spoof. Worth seeing, actually, if you get the chance and am willing to believe me after how terrible the trailer is.

At any rate, I was very impressed with it. I even wrote fic for it, at duchessopfpower's request. But it's...erm...darkfic...as she also requested, and it needs some serious editing before ever being seen by other eyes. It's really hard to balance the goofball tone with darkness...now that I think about it, Buffy is probably going to be an excellent inspiration...particularly the scene I watched today with the shirtless, tied-up Angel who was so wonderfully hot. But I digress. Anyway, one of the other benefits of the movie is a lovely model by the name of Steven Strait, who plays the hotheaded school bully. And whom I have decided I am SO using as my Snape in any iconning that may get done.

Friday I just went into work for lunch, since the company was having an anniversary lunch event, and it was really nice, because everybody there is really nice and funny and somehow it all degenerated into everyone quoting Monty Python and laughing hysterically. Brilliant.

And today my mom and I drove beautiful_rain_ to the airport and then went to Pentagon City Mall, which was a lot of fun, because I never get to go there, since really, it's completely impractical to drive almost into the city to go shopping when there are so many other malls in suburbia. But it's really pretty, and so it was a lot of fun, and I spent far too much money at Victoria's Secret. Ooh, and I bought an awesome collapsible bookcase for my room at school. And Altoids sour cherry gum, which I haven't been able to find anywhere.

I was also going to talk about books in this post, but instead, just let me ask, is there anyone on my flist aside from of_polyhymnia who actively reads Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series? Mostly I'm just curious, but I'd also sort of like to know what sort of spoiler cutting might be neccesary.
