In the past few days, I have read a lot of very thought-provoking meta on a number of different subjects. I was discussing some of it with
beautiful_rain_ this evening, and I thought it might be a good idea to post links to some of what I had read, since obviously the OPs can explain their arguments much better than I can.
Vengeance is Thine: Authorized Cruelty in the Potterverse- a complex and well-reasoned analysis of the subtextual morality of HP.
The Potterian Nightmare (Part 2: Homosocials)- This is the one that I failed to successfully explain to D. It's a very complex analysis of male homosocial relationships in the Potterverse that comes to the conclusion that the books contain some deep subtextual fears of male-male friendships turning into gay love.
Some really interesting
comments discussion about racism in the epilogue.
A
rant about racism in the Libba Bray books.
From the same author, more on racism in literature in general. But not a rant this time.
