Part 2- Cooler Than Me
Andy woke to pounding on her door. She looked at the clock on her bedside table. 5:25 am.
"Somebody better be dead!" she called out as she got up and walked to the door. 3 years of living in New York lead her to look through the peep hole and wish she had just stayed in bed.

She opened the door and walked into the kitchen without acknowledging the knocker. She started the coffee and turned, leaning on the counter.

Finally she spoke. "What do you two want for breakfast?"

Caroline and Cassidy exchanged a look and set about making bacon and eggs as Andy sat down at the counter. The girls remained silent until they handed Andy her morning coffee and let her take a sip. Finally Caroline spoke up:

"Mum knows."

Andy’s head whipped up at this. It wasn't like she wanted the girls to lie to Miranda. Not at all. It was just,  if she knew then what would happen to the chats, the 5 am morning breakfasts together, the after school/work fun that the three of them had? They made Andy's life so much brighter and if Miranda knew,  well Andy had no doubt that would soon end.

"How did she, I mean is she… Am I gonna see you girls again after this morning? Does she even know you’re here?"

Cassidy answered, "She uhm…  she found out, yeah. She didn't really say anything though. And uhm...  No she does not know we are here."

Andy sighed and slammed her head into the counter holding her arms around it; hiding from the world. The girls continued to eat in silence.  Andy looked up,

"If this is the last time I'm going to see you girls I'm taking you to school. Text Roy and let him know."

"Yes Andy" the girls both pulled out their phones and sent off a quick text.

They sat talking quietly. Sadness filled the room as the three looked at the clock and realized it was just about time to leave.

Caroline nudged Cassidy who in turn raised her eyebrow. Both adapted a gleam in their eye as they turned to Andy.

"Andyyyy" Caroline started.
"You have the day off right?" Cassidy asked crossing her arms.
"Do you think we could stay with you?" they said at the same time.

Andy sighed. "If you call your mother and tell her where you are and WHO you are with then, yes, you can stay with me."

Caroline pulled out her phone and pressed speed dial 1. The phone rang on speakerphone a few times before it went to voicemail.

"Hey Mum, it's me and Cass. We’re not going to school today, we’ll be with Andy. Love you."

Andy rolled her eyes at this. "I'm not sure that counts Caro."

Caroline and Cassidy just smiled and pointed at Andy's phone.

It began to ring. Andy flashed back to when the twins had set the song, a personal joke between the three of them. Andy never expected to actually hear it coming from her phone.

“If I could write you a song to make you fall in love
I would already have you up under my arm
I used up all of my tricks, I hope that you like this
But you probably won't, you think you're cooler than me"

Andy answered; the girls giggled and continued singing.

"You got designer shades just to hide your face and
You wear 'em around like you're cooler than me
And you never say "hey" or remember my name
And it's probably 'cause you think you're cooler than me"

"Andrea. I assume you have my daughters." Andy clapped her hands over her eyes as they started to sing louder:

"You got your high brow shoes on your feet
And you wear 'em around like it ain't shit
But you don't know the way that you look
When your steps make that much noise
Shh, see I got you all figured out
You need every one's eyes just to feel seen
Behind your make up nobody knows who you even are
Who do you think that you are?"

"Yeah I have them Miranda."

Andy made shushing gestures at the girls and they quieted down a bit.

"They’re currently practicing for music class."

"I expect you to take care of them Andrea, have them home by 8." Miranda’s cool tone gave Andy shivers up and down her back.

Andy sighed into the phone even two years later the answer was automatic "Yes Miranda."

After a few seconds of silence Andy pulled the phone away and looked at it surprised. Miranda had yet to hang up. And she had agreed to let her girls stay with her; on a school day. What in the world…

"Miranda, erm...  Was there anything else?" Andy felt nervous, she almost expected a verbal attack but what she heard next almost blew her mind.

“Andrea, put me on speakerphone, I wish to hear my daughters sing.”

Andy fumbled with her Blackberry for a minute until she found the button and looked at the girls.

“You’re on speakerphone Miranda.”

Caroline’s eyebrows shot up as Cassidy attempted to hide a giggle.

“Girls, continue singing, it’s been, well it’s been a day from hell and its only seven in the morning.”

The girls smiled and started off where they left off.

"You got your high brow switch in your walk
And you don't even look when you pass by
But you don't know the way that you look
When your steps make that much noise

Shh, see I got you all figured out
You need every one's eyes just to feel seen
Behind your make up nobody knows who you even are
Who do you think that you are?"

"If I could write you a song to make you fall in love
I would already have you up under my arm
I used up all of my tricks, I hope that you like this
But you probably won't, you think you're cooler than me"

"Now don't you dare act like you know don't know
Know what's up? 'Cause your nose is up
I'm approaching up, pshh, yup
Like I can't give you winter in the summer
A summer in the winter, Miami in December

Trying to look bored in them Diors, she probably is
Was acting shallow 'til she found out how deep that my HEART is"

Andy raised her eyebrow at the change in lyrics. As Miranda answered, "What is it that they are singing Andrea?"

"'Cause it sure seems
('Cause it sure seems)
You got no doubt
(That you got no doubt)
But we all see
(We all see)
You got your head in the clouds
(Clouds)

If I could write you a song to make you fall in love
I would already have you up under my arm
(Under my arm)
I used up all of my tricks, I hope that you like this
But you probably won't, you think you're cooler than me

You got designer shades just to hide your face and
You wear 'em around like you're cooler than me
And you never say "hey" or remember my name
And it's probably 'cause you think you're cooler than me"

Cassidy took the phone from Andy. "Hey Mum! We were singing Cooler Than Me. Now Andy is taking us out, talk to you later, we hope your day gets better! Love you bye!" with this she hung up.

Andy just shook her head and wondered what she had gotten herself into.

You had to ignore the shiny thing -_-

Fine be that way. Comment please? (:

Oh yeah my whole point to this... Two of my beta’s pointed out that they found certain aspects of this odd. First: The twins making themselves breakfast; IN Andy’s Apartment and Secondly: That Miranda would willingly allow her daughters to stay with Andy, on a school day. Both of these will make sense later on.. (hopefully, if I don’t screw it up…. Well we’ll see)

blame it on the song, andrea sachs, miranda pristley, mirandy
