Well, THAT did not go as planned!

I should have listened to my instincts and stayed in bed today.

After dropping Mary off at the dentist, I went over to Wal*Mart to pick up a few items, like dish soap. I got out of my car, locked it, and started to walk through the two cars parked next to me. Unfortunately, one of them was a big redneck truck with a huge trailer hitch. The bitch parked so that her front end was facing out and her back end, with the hitch was backed about 18" over the line of what should have been the front of the parking space. So while there looked to be plenty of room for my body to walk through, her trailer hitch was blocking my path.

Since I don't normally look at my feet while I walk, I guess I hit the hitch or something, because the next thing I knew, I was flying through the air and trying to think of a way not to hit my head on another car. I don't really know what happened, but my chin hit the ground first and whipped my head back and then I think I hit my head on the parking lot. I know I almost blacked out and I worried I was going to break my neck.

Once my body came to rest, I realized I'd heard my keys fall. I looked down and saw them in a grate under the parking lot. I called Alan to come get me, realized I was bleeding all over my hands from my chin, and decided to walk into Wal*Mart to get some help with the keys.

I went into the bathroom to clean up my chin and saw a nice piece of flesh missing. Starting to feel dizzy, I told the ladies at the register I needed help. They got me a chair and some ice and a huge bandaid for my chin. I kept refusing to let them call an ambulance because it would cost me a fortune and Alan was on his way.

Alan got there and we waited for the manager to take a report and some of the stock boys to retrieve my keys. I was not feeling very good and my chin was really hurting and I thought I would need stitches, so he drove me to the local hospital then went to pick Mary up from the dentist.

They decided to give me a head CT scan since I was apparently pale and a little confused and could not remember if I hit my head or not. Once they determined I did not have any obvious brain bleeding, the doctor sutured my chin. I have a mild concussion, but am otherwise just going to be very sore tomorrow. I have to get the sutures out in 4-5 days. I am soooo tired and might take a short nap. Alan and the girls are here to be sure I am able to wake up.

Anyway, that was NOT the way I planned to spend my morning, but at least it was eventful.
