Driver, 20, killed after car hits fence
A 20-year-old man died early yesterday after he missed a curve on state Route 76 and went off the road.
Phillip Steven Molina died at the scene near Valley Center Road, about eight miles from his home in the La Jolla Indian Reservation. The crash happened about 4 a.m.
Molina was driving alone in the eastbound lanes when he lost control of his Mercedes-Benz E500 and hit a fence and then some rocks, which sent the car airborne, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.
The car caught fire when it landed.
There was nothing at the scene to indicate alcohol was involved in the wreck, said an official at the Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy is scheduled today. CALEXICO
