Had a surprisingly productive day today.

-Slept in (yes, that was on the to-do list).
-Actually found jeans that fit on the first try- thank you Old Navy!
-Picked up duct insulation at Lowe's in our continuing (and so far successful) quest to improve the heating situation in our incredibly drafty townhouse.
-Picked up some colorful place mats from Pier One.
-Found a reasonably priced night stand for the second bedroom.
-Found a tall decorative tree for the dining room.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the rest of the evening. One of the other docs at work asked me if I would participate in helping make some ready-to-thaw food items for another doc at work who has been feeling poorly due to pregnancy and whose son was sick last week. A nice gesture, I'm just not excited to do it. The doc in question has very different food tastes from me- she's a low carb person who does organic things and low fat stuff. That's not how I eat. I suppose I could make some spaghetti sauce and white chicken chili soup and if she doesn't want it, then oh well. I'm also a little grumpy to do it because I believe that if the situation was reversed, she wouldn't lift a finger to help me. That's a poor attitude to have and maybe it isn't true, but it's what I believe. Oh well. I'll do it anyway, just to be nice.

My birthday was Wednesday and it was a decent day. I worked in the morning by myself (it snowed so we were slow). We went to a wonderful Brazilian bbq in Philly that night- Fogo de Chao it was called. John got me a beautiful green and yellow velvet Renn. dress and a couple of books. It was a nice day.

I applied for a job with the government last week- as a port veterinarian in NJ. Sounded interesting, but I think chances are slim to none that I'll get it. They are currently reviewing applications, and I'm expecting a 'Thanks, but no thanks' letter soon. I am in a continual search to find something outside of clinical practice. I just need to keep looking.

I've officially had my fill of winter. I've had plenty of snow and cold, and I'm ready for some sunshine and wind that doesn't freeze my skin off when it blows. I hope spring comes early here. I plan to plant a small veggie garden behind my townhouse. Just a small patch since anything large will interfere with the landscaper's mowing path, and I also need to be able to fence it in from the deer. So far, I'm looking to plant peppers, cucumbers, strawberries, asparagus and maybe some lettuce. It may take some creativity, but I think I can pull it off.
