Arizona Next Season: Ask Ausiello

From Ask Ausiello:

Question: Will we ever see  Grey’s Anatomy‘s Arizona get romantically involved with anybody new? -Christina
Ausiello: Interestingly, Jessica Capshaw told us last week that in one draft of the season finale script, “There was definite forward movement happening for Arizona, but it didn’t quite fit” into the larger storyline. That said, there was evidence of “what I hope everyone is excited about, which is peaceful coexistence” for Arizona and Callie, who are “moving toward a place where they can actually broach subjects that are tough for ex-wives.”  But as for ‘Zona herself, Capshaw strongly suspects that in Season 12, “big things will happen for her.”

So.. If we are expected to believe this, I'd say we're not going to get any more Calzona.  Seems like the season 11 was the season that Shonda did blow everything up.  If MerDer can't survive, then nobody else can either.

Personally, I don't get "Excited" for a peaceful coexistence".  Seems pretty boring to me.  And forward movement can mean anything.  Unless they sign a new woman to the show, I don't expect we'll see any of it on screen.

I suspect that the promo/preview for the S11 season finale that showed the Callie kissing "steak knives" was to set up a similar scene for Arizona and someone else.

As to broaching subjects that are tough for ex-wives - possibly when the "ex" is seriously dating someone else, perhaps?  Jealousy?  Dividing up possessions?

Big things happening may be we don't have to play "Where's Waldo" for Arizona in three out of four episodes.  Or maybe, we'll see that she has her own place to live.  And... we've frequently been teased about other storylines (PTSD anyone?) that I'm not holding my breath for any of it.  I'm still not sure I'm going to watch beyond the season premiere.
