A long overdue vacation

I'm in the hills to the east of Santa Fe at a Japanese spa called Ten Thousand Waves. Maybe it sounds slightly incongruous to have a Japanese spa in the high mountains of New Mexico but I find that the two aesthetics mesh very well together, especially given the wooded hills (mountains?) and the clear, dark sky. This is one of the places where I go when I'm badly burned out and need to get away to someplace where the rest of the world (i.e. work) can't bother me. I need it a lot more often than I can afford it but every time I come here it's sheer heaven. We're staying overnight to get the full effect of being insulated from it all.

This afternoon I was lounging in a hot pool watching the sunlight on some aspens (or maybe birches? I couldn't tell) turn gradually from white to gold as sunset came closer. I don't even remember when I could last sit for an hour and watch something like that without doing three other things at the same time. It's wonderful.

I will try to get a few pictures while I'm here but please bear with me if I say it's not my first priority.
