New, clean journal

Mar 12, 2012 14:58

At the risk of stating the obvious, I'm Calli Scribbles (some of you in the sims community know me as scribal_goddess) and this is my journal for original short(ish) stories. They're not as short as they could be, as I am notorious for writing pages and pages, but they're here. I'm also on fictionpress and Deviantart as Calli Scribbles, and my stories can be found there as well (and I actually have a couple pictures on Deviantart. Woot!)

Oh yeah, the occasion for getting this: I feel that I've sort of outgrown fictionpress. It will continue to host my stories for the good people that read them there, and I don't plan on leaving it entirely, as I've come to know some people there, but I've pretty much stopped using it as a place to meet other people who write. Hopefully with this account I can avoid some of the issues with the upload for fictionpress and deviantart, and, of course, meet new people.

As a bonus for me having finally fixed up this account, you will, in short order, be getting two of my stories from last year and early this year in short order. They are, as follows;

Prodigal, a short story.
A true family is always ready to welcome home their prodigal daughter with open arms, as well as anyone she might be bringing with her after her long absence. But despite their best intentions, they cannot fully smooth over the past - nor can their new visitor shake the sense that she has not been told everything.

Rating on Fictionpress was K+, but my policy is that if you're under thirteen, get your butt outside to play instead of lurking on the internet.

and:
Silver in Eillen, a fairly long (41,000 plus words, less than 9k short of making nanowrimo) novella-ish thing.
The new silver mine opened in the small city-state of Renua could be an excellent business opportunity - if they didn't have to depend on their inexperienced young duke to broker a business deal with the Eillenians.
Fortunately, he doesn't necessarily have to do it in person.

Set in a fantasy analogue of the Italian Renaissance, and rated T for period appropriate behavior (read; consumption of alcohol and political intrigue.)

As both of these are largely finished work, I'll be updating them fairly regularily, at least once a week. Silver in Eillen needs editing and proper chapter titles. Other stories posted here will be added as I write or update them.
