OH JFC. OMG. THIS SONG IS WHAT SHINEE'S 'JULIETTE' SHOULD HAVE BEEN INSTEAD OF THE PIECE OF CRAP IT WAS. (SRY2SY, AND YOU ALL KNOW I LOVE SHINEE, BUT REALLY? A COVER OF A SHITTY CORBIN BLEU SONG? REALLY NOW?! HAHA, OH, COME THE F ON. IT WILL NEVER STOP BEING RIDICULOUS AND LAMERSONS TO ME -- AS WAS THAT WHOLE VILE CHAPTER IN THE SHINEE STORY. IDK HOW LONG THE BAND WILL LAST, BUT I AM ALREADY CERTAIN 'JULIETTE' WILL FOREVER AND ALWAYS BE THE WORST SONG IN THEIR SONG CATALOG.)
BUT THIS. OH MY GOODNESS, OH MY SOUL. THISSSSS. IF SHINEE WAS GOING TO DO A COVER FOR 'JULIETTE' WHY COULDN'T THEY HAVE COVERED THIS BRILLIANCE?! ALL THEY WOULD'VE HAD TO DO WAS SPEED IT UP AND IT WOULD BE SO FREAKING PERFECT OMG.
Star Crossed Lovers - George Nozuka The melody is gorgeous -- dark, moody, lush and dangerous like infatuation at first sight seen across a crowded ballroom and through a domino mask always is.
The lyrics are wonderful:
I'm a Montague and you're a Capulet
What the hell is in a name
Family say why don't you give up on this love
I'm not caught up in the game
We're star crossed lovers and I know it
Star crossed lovers, I want to show it
Girl, I'm ready for this tragedy
Now I'm going to watch you from the balcony
I can see you on the balcony
Worrying, trying to figure out what's going on
I can hear you on the balcony
Calling me, fall for me
Tonight I'll be your Romeo if you'll be my Juliet
And like any smart lyrics ought to do, it tells the truth; that passion is not to die for but to live for, and love can really only come to life as more than an abstract concept on a dusty page when romance is tempered with reason:
If I can rewrite the story, girl
You and I would never die
If I can rewrite the story, girl
I would find the reason why we're star crossed lovers
And thus is your daily dose of caps-lock flail.
Even though I've loved his song 'Cherie Amour' for a long time, foolishly I never bothered to explore
George Nozuka's music further until randomly last night. And wow, he blows me away. His music is gorgeous, accessible and mainstream Top 40-ready yet intelligent and deeply beautiful. I love the remixes of his songs the most. I'm planning to post more of my favorites of his songs in the days to come, and I hope you all give his work a chance by downloading because I'm fairly certain that if you love music, you'll fall for his stuff as surely and swiftly as, to be trite, Romeo fell for Juliet. ;D
And yes, he is the older brother of singer/songwriter Justin Nozuka, who is very talented too. I prefer George's music because it has more of an R&B 'urban' vibe, like a younger Asian version of Maxwell -- who I also admire as an musician. Also, it doesn't really hurt that George is
handsome and
adorable. He's lovely and so talented; he deserves to be even more widely known and appreciated.
