I've become completely addicted to this South Korean reality show called 'We Got Married.' The concept is very interesting: the show casts eight Korean celebrities and put them together as 'married' couples so they can experience what it's like to live the life of a married. The directors match up the couples so the celebrities don't have any say

2. It is seriously AMAZING. One of the best shows I've ever seen, definitely the best reality show. Please start watching it, I need someone to squee about it with! :)
There are a lot of rumors about some of the couples dating behind the scenes although there's been no official confirmation from any of them. Most of them have admitted on the show to calling and texting each other on their down-time which they are not obligated to do. For example, Hwangbo's birthday was a non-filming day and on that day she was doing an appearance on a different show. Her husband Hyunjoong was in Japan doing a concert and texted her wishing her a happy birthday. She received the text while she was on the other show and a video has been posted of her smiling and spacing out as she stares at her cellphone. Later, on WGM, she asked her husband how he knew her birthdate since she hadn't told him and he said he googled it. Haha, it was so cute. Also, fans said they saw him at one of her recent concerts, standing backstage even though it wasn't being filmed for WGM.
Other couples have been seen spending time together off the show and Crown J said in a recent media interview that he was 80% certain he and In Young would get married for real if she would have him. In Young has said in interviews that she considers him her actual husband even though they are not really married. It's probably just pandering to the fans, but it's cute nonetheless.
I've always thought about whether this show format would work here in the U.S. and I don't think it would be successful for a few reasons:
1) I don't think they'd be able to get A-List or even B-List celebs to do the show and I don't think lower level celebs would be as popular with the viewing audience. I don't think there'd be a lot of interest in seeing former reality show contestants do this type of show even in this format.
2) I think the couples would break up quickly once things become more difficult and realistic. The couples of WGM always have the option of divorcing i.e. quitting the show because it's contractually okay -- the producers have allowed for it since it is realistic to married life for people to break up. It's to the credit of the couples that despite misunderstandings, they continue and try to work through their problems. Maybe it's a cultural thing, that there's still a degree of shame about divorce, whereas here in the U.S. the divorce rate is so high. I think American celebs would have less of a hesitation about quitting the show if it becomes inconvenient or difficult.
With that said, I thought about what American celebs I'd like to see on a show like this and I couldn't really think of any. I started watching the show not knowing hardly any of the Korean celebs (except for Andy because I'd heard of his band Shinhwa and Alex because I'd heard of his band Clazziquai) since I don't really follow Korean pop culture. It was only after watching the show that I realized how famous most of the celebs are in Asia even before they did WGM.

I really do want to see it now. But I've got so many on my list already. I'll get to it!
I agree with the American version not translating. I think a lot of Asian dramas would never translate to US which is why I'm kinda befuddled on why they keep remaking stuff.
The latest one is My Name Is Kim Sam Soon, which I haven't seen yet, but I heard that NBC is making it into a series.
