Spring Waltz

I'm totally obsessed with this show. I've only been through a few episodes, but I had chills almost the entire time because it is so gorgeous visually and the two leads have insane chemistry. I love the look of it, everything from the stunning island town where most of the show takes place and the beauty of the landscape to the vibrant color palette of the costuming. The show is anti-modern, it could take place in any era and there is this feeling of enchantment and timelessness to it; I am taken aback whenever I see the characters using cellphones because the rest of the show doesn't feel contemporary and I mean that in a good way.

The story is deeply romantic but not at all cheesy or schmoopy. The actors are fantastic; the lead female is so relatable and reminds me of my little sister, wide-eyed and sweet, and the lead male is perfection -- poetic face, great voice, the prettiest emo boy hair I've ever seen, and this amazing quiet charisma. The angst is intense and affecting but not overwrought and yet there are lighter moments too like when she spills all that red chili sauce on him when they're on the train -- funny and realistically embarrassing instead of slapstick like most shows would play it. An added bonus is that the male lead character is a concert pianist and the actor actually plays the piano so all the scenes of him playing are real.

Because the lead male character is a pianist there's a ridiculously awesome amount of hand porn in the show --

I love the two lead actors, their mad chemistry apparently extends to off set wrap parties as well. I wonder what they're talking about.*g* I suspected he was a hipster off camera and the fedora proves it, lol, but I like his adorkable Mickey Mouse t-shirt.

So, so obsessed with this show. I haven't loved an Asian drama this much since I saw Goong (aka Palace).
