Argh and Yum!

The Argh:

quiet_rebel came into town yesterday with her cousin to hang out with me. We had dinner here in Beverly Hills at Frida (upscale Mexican joint) and then went to the Mountain Bar in Chinatown. I'd never been there before -- it was actually my first time being in L.A.'s Chinatown as opposed to Monterey Park or the San Gabriel Valley -- and it was fun. Unsurprisingly, after a margarita and a sangria at dinner and four vodka tonics at the bar (it was not smart of me to mix tequila and vodka in one night), at the end of the night I was down and out literally -- I passed out and was snoozing away on a bench in front of the bar. Thank goodness I had friends with me to drag me into a cab and up the stairs to my apartment. I don't party much because when I do I turn into Lindsay Lohan. Apparently I gave out my cell # to like 5 guys but I don't remember any of it or them. All I know is, I woke up to a bunch of text messages from a Steve, a Tyler, a Jesse, a Gabe, and a Daniel? Who the fuck are these people? I don't recall meeting any of them or giving them my number and how did I even have time to before I passed out? Oh, well, I'll never know and I'm not contacting any of them back since I don't know if they're cute or not.

Still, it was way fun hanging out with you and your awesome cousin, quiet_rebel! I'm so sorry she got a parking ticket, tell her to contact me if she needs my help to call the Transportation Dept to challenge it.

The Yum:
I woke up with the strongest craving for pasta in pesto sauce. Does anyone have a good homemade pesto recipe that is quick and easy? Also, hopefully contains nothing that comes from our little animal friends since I'm a vegan.

I'm watching the Road to the Final Four special and I've already cried twice at their human interest stories. One about this UNC student who was the university basketball team's mascot and he died from a car accident but was an organ donor. They interviewed the three people who received his organs and I bawled so hard. Next time I renew my driver's license I'm going to sign up to be an organ donor. The other story was about a young boy who was so moved by a story about kids in Africa who were orphaned when their parents died from AIDS that he started a program Hoops For Hope where kids shoot free throws for donations of a dollar a basket and they raised enough money to build a school and a medical facility for the orphans.

My eyes are all swollen now from crying so much.*sniff*
