Title: Pove’s promotion party
Author: calleighsgirl
Pairing: Pepa/Silvia
Rating: PG-13 (Am I the only one whose challenge entry is NOT nc-17???)
Summary: My take on how Montoya found out about the girls.
A/N: Okay, I promised raven, I would post this when I came home from practice. It got a little late, because we went skinnydipping after practice, (who could say no to that? *giggles*) but here it is… my entry for the Montoya!challenge.
And since I have only mentioned it like 20 times I will say it again: The last time I wrote was when I was 13… so an awful long time ago… and I think my writing skills back then were about a million times better. So bear with me.
Please comment… say good things or bad things, doesn’t matter… I really want to improve and get back into this.
The song was over and everyone screamed and applauded. Pove, Montoya and Quique took a bow, smiled and left the stage to join everyone else at the party.
Silvia was busy talking to Pepa but saw Montoya out of the corner of her eye making a beeline for them with two beers in his hand.
Pepa was so busy staring at Silvia, she didn’t even see him coming and slightly jumped when he held the bottle in front of her.
“Hey Pepa, I bought you a beer.”
Pepa looked up slightly annoyed but she hid it well under a big plastic smile.
“Thanks Gonzalo.”
She looked over at her girlfriend who did not look amused.
Pepa didn’t know what to do. If Silvia was ok with coming out to everyone she would gladly tell him that she was dating her and that she would never want anyone else, because she was very much in love. But she knew Silvia still had doubts. And even though they worked very hard on overcoming her fear, she knew they had to go slow.
“You guys were awesome up there.” She said because she couldn’t think of anything else. Montoya smiled nervously.
“Yes? I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was really fun, too.”
Silvia rolled her eyes and got up from her seat.
“Maybe I should leave you two alone. I’m gonna get a beer.”
Pepa could hear how pissed Silvia was. But could she just run after her? Or would that make it even worse when everyone could see them? On top of that, Montoya grabbed his chance to take Silvia’s now empty seat across from her and started babbling about how long they had practiced together for the song and that he used to play in a band back in high school, but Pepa barely listened. Her thoughts kept wandering back to Silvia, already thinking of the thousands of apologies she would have to make tonight when they went home.
At the bar, Silvia had ordered a beer and pretty much drowned it. Once in a while she turned around to give Montoya a death glared he couldn’t see because he was still so busy trying to impress her girlfriend with all his ‘nice guy’ talking. She ordered another drink and started sulking again.
“OK, come on, hermana. Something’s wrong, I can see that! Tell me.”
Silvia sighed. She knew there was no hiding from Lola. There had never been. All her life her big sister had always been the first person she talked to when something was bothering her. Which was also the reason she had come to her when she finally realized she might have feelings for Pepa and didn’t know how to handle it.
She sighed in defeat.
“Okay… well, Lola. Remember, I told you I thought I was flirting with Pepa?”
Lola nodded. Of course she remembered.
“It turned out I was flirting. But what I haven’t told you yet is…” She took a deep breath. “that Pepa and I have been dating for two weeks.”
Lola couldn’t hide her knowing smile. For her it had been a clear thing since Pepa’s return to San Antonio that the two women would at some point just go on with what they had started 11 years ago.
“Well, I’m happy for you Silvia!”
She saw the look of concern in her sister’s eyes.
“Are you happy with it?”
Silvia looked up at her like she had just asked her something really silly.
“Of course I’m happy! I feel happier than I have ever been… It’s just that I’m really annoyed with Gonzalo hitting on her.”
She looked over again just to see that not much had changed in the last five minutes. Lola looked over at them too, then back at her sister.
“Then why don’t you just tell him that you’re together?”
Silvia’s eyes widened.
“Because everyone would know in no time!”
Lola’s eyebrows rose towards her hairline and she said nothing else because she thought this was once again something Silvia would have to realize by herself soon enough. She just gave Silvia the new beer she had ordered and turned her attention to her other customers again.
At around 1 a.m., the party was still busy and everyone was dancing though some of their friends already looked a little tired.
Silvia had tried a few times to dance with Pepa but it was always just a matter of a few minutes for Montoya to join them and ‘snag’ Pepa away from her. She had drowned another beer everytime it happened and now she was sitting at the bar leaning against the counter in order to not fall of her chair. She was giggling at Quique who fell over because he had a few drinks too much. But then she saw Pepa headed towards the bathroom and had an idea. She stood up and had trouble keeping her balance, too, but she somehow made it to the other end of the room and opened the door that Pepa had disappeared behind a few seconds ago.
Pepa looked up from the sink when she heard the door open and smiled when she saw who it was. Silvia’s dunk state did not go unnoticed by her when her girlfried took a few staggering steps towards and tripped. Pepa caught her before she could fall and held onto her. Before she could say anything Silvia pushed her against the wall and crushed her lips against hers in a passionate kiss.
“Pepa.” She said in between kisses a ragged breaths. “If he comes close to you again while we’re together I swear I’m gonna kill him.”
Pepa looked into her eyes and was relieved when she realized, Silvia didn’t blame her for this. Maybe she would the next morning when she was sober but right now it didn’t matter. She knew they were thinking the same:
“Let’s go home, okay?”
Silvia nodded and leaned in to rest her head on her shoulder, enjoying their uninterrupted closeness.
Pepa put her arms around Silvia and kissed her head, lingering for a few more precious seconds, before she started to move. She put her arm around Silvia’s shoulder to make sure she wouldn’t fall and opened the door.
Silvia went over to pay for their drinks while Pepa got their coats.
“Are you leaving already? Everyone is having such a good time. Stay a bit longer!”
It was Montoya of course. Pepa rolled her eyes before turning to face him. He was really staring to annoy her and for a moment she was opting to tell him to leave her alone because she wanted to spend time with her girldfriend and not with him but she held it together and put on another fake smile instead.
“No, I’m just getting tired.”
“Do you need a ride home?”
That guy just didn’t give up, did he? She thought she had showed him more than enough tonight that she was really not interested in anything more than friendship by always cutting him off prentending to go to the bathroom or the bar or the dancefloor, always looking for Silvia, hoping she could make things right.
“No thanks, I have my own car here and I’m taking Silvia home.”
“Oh.” He looked really disappointed. But then his face lit up again and he asked: “But we had fun tonight, right? So we should go out another time… maybe somewhere more… private?”
Okay, so he was really asking her out now. It was really about damn time she finally did something about this or her girlfriend would kill her. She was just about to say something, but next thing she knew, Silvia stumbled over to stand between them, back turned to her, facing Montoya.
She was torn between watching what would happen or stopping her before she did something she would regret the next day.
Silvia started talking, her speech had started to slur:
“Okay, G’nzalo. Lisn t’me, cause I will only sayit once.”
Pepa quickly took her hand and said her name to stop her, but she shook her head.
“No Pepa… I have to set something straight here.” She took a second to laugh at her own choice of words while Pepa only watched her in concern.
She turned to Montoya again, raising her pointer and poking his chest with it.
“Look, you jus leave Pepa the hell alone. She is very taken an you’re my friend, but if I eva see you lookin’ at her like that again, I will not hesitate a second and just shoot you.”
Montoya’s eyes widened in shock and realization. Then he looked at Pepa as if asking if it was true or if the woman in front of him was just so drunk she had gone crazy. All she could do was shrug and smile in apology.
She took Silvia’s hand and pressed a quick kiss on her lips, both happy and surprised she didn’t protest against kissing in front of all their friends.
“Let’s get you home, pelirroja, before you out us to your father and he chops my head off.”
Pepa moved her arm around Silvia’s waist to steady her, placed another small kiss on her cheek and guided her out of Cachi’s leaving behind a stunned and awkward feeling Montoya and a smiling Lola.
