Raccoons and Coyotes

May 31, 2008 09:38

Coyotes killed a sheep the other night. Well, they ate a sheep. I don't know what exactly killed it.

Regardless, three coyotes have since died of lead poisoning.

Eric killed a raccoon last night, avenging Ollie. The police, fortunately, didn't show up, but the neighbors came out to tell us that they called them. But don't worry we're used to it.
Okay folks, you're out in the country. There are things that you need to learn before you move to the country.
For instance:
We have one grocery store and they only take cash or local check.
We don't do fast food.
The entire town is closed on Sunday, except for the churches and the grocery store.
People shoot at stuff. We don't call animal control - they expect us not to.
We defend our livestock (that's cows, if you're really new to this place).
When you hear gunshots, find out what they're for before you call the police. Or grab your gun and find out if anyone wants help.

I sound so heartless, don't I?
