dramas, mangas, and rain, oh my!

Fact: it is raining right now in Southern California, and looks like it will rain through Memorial Day weekend. I think this is EXCELLENT. Because I was getting tired of the freak heatwaves.

Plus, I just got a huge box from RightStuf and I'm still not done with my order from JustManga.com so I have a looooot to keep me occupied this weekend.

Kitchen Princess, my fluffy shojo manga with cooking just went to a place I did not expect it to with tears and emo and really, I did not think that it would go there - but it pulled a classic shojo move at the end of volume 6, so all is well in the world again.

I have Eternal Sabbath, volumes 1-4, for a starter run. This is from the creator of Mars, and involves clones. It looks suitably trippy and scifi in a way that I, a non scifi fan can get into. Plus, of course the art is great.

Then there's Vol 12 of Skip Beat! Oh REN. YOU BLIND MAD FOOL. Well. Not so blind anymore, but still.

I don't remember if I posted anything about the recent developments in Her Majesty's Dog (only a few volumes left and then it's 11 and the end. D:) but oh, Akane. Also, The Wise Man Sleeps is silly slapstick fun with a spot of amateur gemology. Which is totally not the phrase for it, but yay, at least something to read after HMD ends.

I picked up another Del Rey title - something about teenage girls with superpowers that I can't really recall the title of - it was okay, but not WOW, not like how I felt about the Runaways (which I need to pick up again, once they release the new graphic novel chapter), but it was amusing enough, and the mayor of the town started when she was 9 years old. Crazy!

And then there's Jo Chen's second volume in her recently released/translated into English for the first time - two parter, The Other Side of the Mirror, and seriously, Jo Chen was what I wanted to be when I wanted to grow up, when I was still in love with drawing and art. These days I'm still in love with art, but drawing and I are more like friendly acquaintances who keep on missing each other.

And I bought the Princess Tutu boxset a while back, and I've still only watched disc 1. And I need to finish Kare Kano, and fill in the blanks of my Cowboy Bebop collection, because now that was a story that I loved.

first off, THANK GOD THAT HORRIBLE PEACH GIRL LIVE ADAPTATION RUMOR was just that, a rumor.

The real Summer Drama that Pi's going to be in.

secondly - Yamapi as doctor and a helicopter? Well. After inflicting those near and dear to me with how much I loathed Prodai (and this was only after actually watching 3 full episodes and ffing through the rest and then listening to kitsune714 bitch about the SP), I'm more willing to seek this out only on the condition that Yamapi not be in any sort of love triangle with the characters Erika Toda and Yui Aragaki play because the amount of slack I'm willing to give (BECAUSEWTFBBQ YAMAPI AS A DOCTOR) is ...let's just say I have an irrational grudge.

Also, Japan. When are Maki and Shota going to get married (and appear) in Atsuhime? I am shallow but I am also to the point.

I've pretty much given up on Zettai Kareshi at this point, except to check in on when Hayami Mokomichi takes off his shirt and Hiro smiles bemusedly at how lame Riko is. (I've tried very hard, but she is not the drama heroine for me.)

But Last Friends! Man.

Eita is so on the My Drama Boyfriends list, now.

And HANA KIMI SP. WHERE ARE YOUUUUUU?

also: I liken my relationship to kdramas as being in the mafia. Just when I think I've gotten out, they suck me back in. "They" being Kang Dong Won (or Gang Dong Won as some transliterations have it) and this little beauty on Youtube.

I NEED THIS SHOW TO BE SUBBED. LIKE, YESTERDAY. Because it is clear that he gets the girl. MULTIPLE TIMES.

Oh, and I need to get started on ep 2 of God, Please give me more time, because Takeshi Kaneshiro is the Number one old school boyfriend for A REASON.

kitsune714 and I watched Koizora with subs last night. I have to say, it's an experience that can not be summed up in mere words.

But I will try. "That is the power of my love."

Thank you, I'll be here all week.

kdrama, manga, tomohisa yamashita, jdramas
