on the new HP trailer and love is in the air (but not for me)

Vague non-spoilery (that is if, you've read the books) talk about it:

The special effects are amazing looking - I think they really did outdo themselves for this film. Fawkes looks properly astonishing and magical, instead of a reject out of Jim Henson's muppet laboratory. Which reminds me, I recently saw the Labryinth for the first time in one complete viewing (instead of starts and stops) when Sara confronts those nasty little imps with the fetus looking things on sticks? Crap, and this movie was supposed to appeal to kids and their parents? How subversive we were in the 80s!

Cho is so going to get the raw end of the deal. Oh Katie Leung, why are you so cute? And your pretty Scottish lilt. Harry's no good for you! That way lies madness and fruit pies!

I fervently hope that Ron will not do one of his stupid patented, "I'm so scared" faces. Because really, Rupert Grint needs to have the mugging clause taken out of his contract. Poor kid.

Neville is SO TALL.

Basically everyone except the girls are taller than Harry. Oh, Dan Rad. It's okay. You're sitting on piles of money.

On spring dramas - I decided I am really in love with the offbeat sweetness that is Sexy Voice and Robo, and wondered why it felt so familiar despite the fact that I haven't read the manga (and now I may have to). I checked the credits and the people who were responsible for writing Nobuta Wo Produce (another oddly whimisical, melancholy and sweet show - that the sum was greater than the whole of its parts - excellent performances and uneven pacing) are behind it. The homeroom teacher from NwP plays a henchman in Sexy Voice.

I am also curious to find out what happens next in Seito Shokun! even though it's getting hammered in the ratings - it looks like if you're not a romance drama or if your cast doesn't have a prominent JE boy as the star, you're fighting an uphill battle, viewer-wise. SS is taking the stereotypical school drama thing and switching things up, and I really hope it finds an audience. Plus Maki has cute boy flunkies! I'll say it again: That is SO AWESOME.

I also only *like* Proposal Daisakusen. I think because I marathoned Nodame Cantabile before spring drama season officially kicked off, and that show did romantic comedy and yearning and slice of life so perfectly, that I can only feel a slight 'eh' in Yamapi's direction. Blasphemous, I know, but I'm now in my gen phase. Romance is always frosting for me, never the cake.

hp, maki has cute boy flunkies, jdramas, harry potter
