Scattered thoughts on Tokujo Kabachi!!'s first episode and gratuitous Maki capspam
the wiki for Tokujo Kabachi You know it's a comedy when the colors are retina blinding bright and pop and someone is wearing a doubtful hair piece.
This is Tamura Katsuhiro, a bright eyed and idealistic young notary public recently moved to Tokyo from Hiroshima. He wants to fight for peace! ideals! justice!
Unfortunately for Tamura, his newest opponent is Sumiyoshi Misuzu. Who wears cut-a-bitch-heels and gets shit done while Tamura runs around greater Tokyo, upholding his principles.
And Misuzu smokes, which is Japanese code for: OMG SHE'S A BAD WOMAN/BADASS.
When she head tilts, it's a precursor to some serious competency anvils raining down on anyone foolish enough to get in her way.
Or not. Misuzu doesn't really care one way or another.
This is Kyoko Kebisawa, head of her own law firm, witnessing Misuzu in soul-crushing mode.
and it might not be Ninjas, but Japan, I forgive you. Momentarily.
These are from the preview for the second episode. Oh yes.
Well, I was wondering about how Japan would manage to make public notaries interesting, and luckily they decided to skip all that paperwork and focus on the people that are often involved in small claims/litigations, ie. the human drama factor. I still have no idea what actually went on in the drama - waiting for subs, but the important thing- the comedy chemistry/odd couple spark that makes these kind of dramas watchable...thankfully is there.
Misuzu's blase, sometimes cheeky indifference to Tamura's righteous indignation is hilarious to watch, because I think I've watched one too many dramas when this dynamic is reversed, and I needed a change.
Will Tamura stroke out? Will Misuzu stomp all over him in her pointy shoes?
I will look forward to the second episode!
