Character: Blue
Series/Fandom: Wolf's Rain
Original or Template version: Original

Age: Looks to be about seventeen or eighteen in her human form, but is really only about three.
Gender: Female.
Species: Wolf/dog hybrid.
Sexuality: Heterosexual.

Link to picture/PB of character: Here.
Appearance: Blue is, in reality, a wolf-dog - she has bluish-black fur and startling blue eyes. She's large, but still in the "dog" range. However, she often takes the guise of a human, and in this form appears as a very pretty teenage girl with dark skin, black hair, and bright blue eyes. She tends to wear a navy blue peacoat that is belted at the waist and ends at mid-thigh. Underneath the peacoat, she wears sheer black stockings, and long navy blue boots that reach up to just above her knees. Blue also wears a vivid red scarf around her neck.

Personality: Blue is reserved, and something of a realist. She tells Hige that she knows she won't make it to paradise, because she is only half wolf, and that it doesn't matter to her as long as she's by his side, and has obviously known this longer than she lets on, at least since the discussion she has with Toboe about taking care of Quent. She is fiercely loyal to the point where she will risk being hurt herself to protect those she thinks of as her pack, whether human or canine. She's quiet and doesn't say anything unless she feels a real need to, and is honest to the point of being brutal. She shows much more emotion around those she cares for, and is rather social if only because of her canine nature. She has an unwavering affection for humans, and also tends to work because she feels she has to.

She does not share the same elitist attitude many of the other wolves do - that is, that wolves are much better than humans. Blue loves being around people, and, because of her dog ancestry and history as a pet, does not look down on dogs or other pets. Basically, think of most dogs you've met when you think of her around humans - "Yay attention I love youuu!" She is very accepting, on the whole, though she won't hesitate to tell off someone who is doing something she doesn't like. Or, in the case of the men who were trying to sell her into prostitution, injure someone who's doing something she doesn't like. She is also very calm, brushing off insults and tending not to hold grudges unless the offense was serious.

Abilities/Strengths: Her main ability is that she can put up an illusion to pass off as human. To make it easier on everyone involved (if she takes someone's hand, do they feel teeth? If she kicks someone, what part of her body is she really hitting them with?), it'll be an actual transformation. She's a good fighter, and honest as well. Blue also heals much faster and generally feels much better during a full moon, as well as having strong canine senses, such as sight, smell, ect.

Weaknesses: Some people can see her true form even when she's in her human form. This seems to be those with some level of mental retardation or injury, such as an old man who was senile, or a rather slow young boy in The Lost City, or Quent, after his head injury. Regardless of her form, her shadow shifts between that of a human's and a wolf's, and anyone who is perceptive can tell that there's something off about her. She simply doesn't understand why humans do some of the things they do. In addition, she's at a disadvantage against those who use weapons, as she simply doesn't see a need for one. She also tends to rely too much on her nose and not enough on her eyes, like humans do. So, she often seems a little eccentric or odd.

History: Blue's world is a sad one. The earth is dying, all natural habitats have been stripped from it, and small groups of people manage to survive, though they live in poverty and hardship. Most live in large domed cities ruled by Nobles. Wolves were believed to have been hunted to extinction, the last one having been seen 200 years ago, but really survive by masquerading as humans. There is an old, nearly forgotten legend, told in the Book of the Moon, that states that when the end of the world comes, Paradise will open, but only the wolves will know how to find it, and only they will be allowed to enter.

Blue was orphaned not long after birth, and was found as a puppy by a young boy who brought her back to his home in the village of Kyrios. Here, Blue lived out her childhood, becoming closest to the boy, Ruesse, and his father, the sheriff of Kyrios, Quent. These days were her happiest, as she spent them playing with Ruesse and tagging along with Quent as he went about his work. When she was still young, however, her entire town was burned down and she and Quent were the only survivors. When they finally managed to get through the flames to their home, they found a pack of wolves in the rubble, one of which Quent claimed was "laughing" at him. Enraged and depressed, Quent turned to alcohol to drown his sorrows and vowed to hunt down every remaining wolf, with Blue at his side.

At the beginning of the story, Blue and Quent are in Freeze City, tracking a white wolf that Blue will later discover is the "chosen one" destined to open Paradise. Also in the city is Cheza, a flower maiden created artificially from a Lunar Flower by Darcia the First, a noble. When Blue arrives, she is in a state of suspended animation in a lab, being studied by a scientist named Cher Degre. Other wolves have been drawn to the city by her scent, and though Blue finds it strangely intoxicating, she manages to ignore it for the most part.

Blue and Quent manage to corner Kiba and injure him slightly, but Quent is arrested and Blue is impounded. When they are finally released, Cheza has awoken, and been kidnapped by Darcia the Third, another noble. Darcia is obsessed with opening Paradise for the nobles, as was his grandfather. His family is cursed, and he seeks to use Cheza to revive his comatose lover Hamona. With the flower maiden gone, the wolves leave the city, with Blue and Quent following. Cher joins the city's army to try to get Cheza, whom she regards as a daughter, back, and her ex-husband Hubb follows.

Eventually Blue encounters Cheza for herself, and this awakens the wolf blood in her. Cheza leaves, and Blue finds a soldier attacking a small boy. She attempts to drive him off and is found by Quent, who believes she was the one who hurt the boy. He shoots above her head and ties her up, then leaves to tend to the boys wounds. When the soldier from before finds her, he badly injures her, and when Quent heads back outside, he finds the soldier's dead body, Blue's broken collar, and a puddle of blood. Quent finds Toboe and gives chase, but Blue appears, collapsing in front of her master. Despite this, Quent continues to chase the wolves, and when he returns for Blue, she is gone.

Knowing that Quent would never accept her as a wolf, she has run off and begins to travel on her own. She searches for work, but the humans she runs into trick her and attempt to sell her into prostitution. She runs straight into Kiba's pack, which consists of a grey wolf named Tsume, a young brown pup named Toboe, and another brown wolf named Hige. Hige was the only one Blue had never hunted. Strangely enough, Cheza isn't with them, and Blue is reluctantly admitted into the pack after she helps them escape a group of hunters.

Blue finds out that Cheza has been captured by Darcia once again. As the pack travels together in search of Cheza, Blue and Hige become very close. Another Noble sends an assassin to kill Hamona, and Darcia is driven insane with grief. When they finally reach the Keep, Kiba runs ahead and reaches the room where Cheza is, while Hige leads the others after Cheza's scent. Blue and the others arrive just as Quent does, and Blue jumps in front of Kiba when Quent prepares to shoot the white wolf. Then, Jaguara - another Noble - attacks the keep. Hubb and Cher manage to take Cheza and escape the Keep, but are met outside by Jaguara's troops. Blue tries to help, but is only captured herself.

Blue and Cheza are put into the same transport truck, and there they become a little closer as they are brought to Jaguara's Keep. Cher and Hubb manage to escape and release Cheza and Blue, but in the ensuing fight, Hubb and Cheza are recaptured and separated from Blue and Cher. A commander, however, tells Blue and Cher that he's met Kiba's pack, and offers them a vehicle to get to the Keep.

When they reach the city, they find that it's surrounded by a huge energy field. Cher explains that it's a city left over from "the golden age", and the Nobles call it The Lost City. Blue and Cher manage to get in through the main gates while Hige and the others sneak in through the sewers. Cher then adds that the Keep is in the inner part of the city, and the only way to get in is with special ID tags. They manage to get these through a combination of seduction and violence, but when they reach the inner city and ask to get to the Keep, no one knows what they're talking about. On top of this, the city has no scent, so Blue can't track Cheza.

Help comes in the form of a cat, who tells Blue that no one in the city thinks or feels - or questions. He leads Cher and Blue to his owner, who give them an old map to the Keep, but on the way the two run into a group of Jaguara's troops. When Cher and Blue tell them they're from Kyrios, they reveal that they were the ones who burned it down. Blue is enraged, and attacks the troops, and Cher is forced to run off. Blue manages to escape, too, and finds Hige, separated from the rest of the pack.

He's collapsed after trying to get away from the city's hundreds of security cameras, and Blue tells him that all she wants to do is find Quent. He tells her that they should get out of the city, and that he doesn't care what happens to Cheza and the others. He begins to drag her off, and Blue begs to know what's wrong with him. When they run into another camera, Hige begins to mutter about how he's being watched, and how he's always been watched, then drags her off again. When she finally demands an explanation, he simply tells her it's all his fault, and the two are interrupted when they hear Toboe howling.

They find that he and Tsume have been captured, but there are too many troops for Blue and Hige to save them. Hige runs off, trying to lose Blue, but to no avail, and he collapses again, begging Blue to get his collar off. She struggles to bite it off, but when that fails, he tells her to just forget about it, then explains that he was one of Jaguara's wolves. These wolves would be fitted with a collar that had a tracking device in it, and was brainwashed into being Jaguara's lapdog. His job was to track down and lead troops to wolves, and the collar allows him to enter Jaguara's city, but is always under surveillance. It also reprogrammed his memories, making him completely unaware of his "duty".

Just then, a pair of soldiers finds them, and Blue attacks them. Hige pulls her out of the way, and his collar is shot off in the resulting gunfire. After escaping, Hige tells Blue he's going to help Kiba and the others, but that he wants Blue to stay out of it, because if he knows she's waiting for him, he'll do whatever it takes to get back to her.

And so Blue waits, while inside the castle Jaguara is planning to use Kiba and Cheza to create a paradise for Nobles. She is Hamona's twin sister, and the two were both in love with Darcia, but Jaguara was heartbroken when Darcia chose Hamona over her. Thus, she plans to open Paradise to make Darcia love her. She reveals she was also the one who killed Hamona.

The scents of the city slowly return, and Blue smells Quent. She tracks him down and the two are happily reunited, but Quent is injured. Blue reveals that soldiers destroyed Kyrios, not wolves, but Quent refuses to believe her.

Meanwhile, Tsume, Toboe, Kiba and Hubb prepare to escape while Jaguara, enraged that Darcia will never love her, attacks him. In the resulting struggle, Hige is badly injured, and Jaguara is killed by Kiba and Darcia. The city begins to crumble, and Blue is forced to leave with Quent, who was hurt saving Blue from falling debris. Hige waits for Blue, but is forced to leave as well, and so Cher, Hubb, Cheza and the wolves leave, pursued by Darcia.

The world is really crumbling now - distant explosions and meteor strikes make the ground fragile. Blue is forced to carry Quent, who tells her that he won't believe wolves aren't evil just because of her. Blue spots a passing car and attempts to wave it down, but is nearly hit. Quent pushes her out of the way and is hit instead. The two are found by Cher and Hubb, traveling in a van, and Cher tells Blue that Quent appears to have brain damage. The two travel onward with Cher and Hubb, and soon enough run into the other wolves.

However, as they are traveling, the weakened ground gives way and everyone gets out of the car in time, except for Cher, who dies to save Cheza. Hubb promises to keep traveling with the wolves until they reach Paradise, and continue on in the car as long as they can. They are interrupted, however, when Quent has a seizure, and Hubb struggles to stop him, but fails. Finally, Cheza manages to heal him, though the effort makes her pass out.

Blue then makes Toboe promise to take care of Quent in case something happens to her, and when the car finally breaks down, they decide to rest for the night. When Quent awakens and finds he's been traveling with wolves, he tells Blue that she isn't his dog anymore before stomping off. Blue, shattered, runs away, with Toboe following Quent and Hige following Blue. They decide that neither of them are fit to get into Paradise, and she hugs him tightly, telling him, "If I can be with you when the world ends, then that's enough for me!" They promise to stay together until the end, and decide to leave the pack when they hear a gunshot.

They head to where they heard it, and find Toboe and Quent, dead. Blue is heartbroken, and Kiba tracks down the killer - Darcia. He disappears and Kiba returns. They are forced to keep moving, though Tsume stays back to say his goodbyes. Blue tells Hige that they are going to Paradise, because she knows he wants to go, and so they decide to rejoin the pack.

The group begins to make their way up a mountain, with Cheza telling them where to go. On the way up, Hubb slips and falls to his death. At the top, they are cut off by Darcia, who has become a wolf - the "wretche beast" mentioned in the Book of the Moon. The group is alternately horrified and disgusted, and Darcia reveals that he was the one who killed Toboe and Quent. He says that what he has become has great need of Cheza, and moves to take her from Blue, who is holding her.

Blue, enraged, attacks Darcia but is badly injured. Kiba and Blue struggle to save her, but Darcia bites into her throat before throwing her aside. He then tears out Hige's throat before grabbing Cheza and running off. Hige manages to drag himself to Blue's side, but she dies a few seconds later. As in canon, she won't make it to Paradise like Hige. Unlike canon, she'll be pulled to Template.

Sample Journal Entry: This is... This isn't Paradise, is it? It can't be, but... Everything is so... Clean. And so beautiful. I even think I saw a small forest. I thought those only existed in fairytales.

But how is this possible? I remember... Blood. And Cheza screaming. And then... Hige...

Where am I?

Sample Roleplay: Blue now knew what Quent had meant by the snow. Everything was vague and blurry. Blood drowned out all of the other scents. Cheza was gone, she knew vaguely, although how she knew she wasn't certain. But she sensed someone moving towards her, then collapsing next to her head. "Hige? Is that you?" she managed, although her throat screamed in protest at the effort. There was no answer, and so she forced herself to speak again. "Hige...?"

"Yeah. I'm here, Blue," she heard him say, and she sighed in relief. "Everything's all blurry," she told him. "Will you stay with me?" She was dying. She knew that much. She wouldn't deny it like the humans had. She wouldn't make it to Paradise, and she wouldn't deny that either. "I'm not going anywhere," Hige reassured her, and she allowed her eyes to close. "I promised, remember? I'll never leave you." She felt his fingers on her forehead, pushing the hair away, and was surprised when she felt tears in her eyes. "That feels so... Nice," she told him, sighing contentedly.

Perhaps it was minutes or hours later, but Blue opened her eyes again, finding an odd strength that she knew wasn't possible with her injuries or the amount of blood she'd lost. And she was in a... A cathedral? Blue stood, finding herself slightly weak but without injury. There was still a tear in her sleeve from where the bullet had grazed her shoulder, and her scarf was dark with dried blood, but... She felt her throat. Intact. Completely intact.

And then it hit her. "Hige?" She called, scanning the cathedral. But she already knew she would get no reply. His scent was nowhere nearby. But still, she found herself yelling this time: "Hige? Hige!" And then, in a move of desperation, she howled, long and loud. Waited. Nothing. Another howl, but still, no response.

And then Blue collapsed onto the pew, head in her hands, and trembled.

Did you read the rules, Yes/No: NO. GO DIE.
