2011 Wrap-Up
As the year comes to a close, I wanted to take the time to savor a few things from the past twelve months.
BEST OF
1. Finally discovering the magic that is Firefly. Thank you, Joss Whedon. Also, you're a terrible person.
2. Florence + The Machine, Ceremonials. Incredible.
3. Everything by C.S. Lewis. I've loved him since Mere Christianity, but this year I've really explored his work. From Narnia to Malacandra to the World's Last Night, I've followed him everywhere and flourished because of it.
4. 2011 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals. What more could I want?
5. Cowboys and Aliens. Thank you, Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig, for saving the summer from lackluster movies.
6. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. So, I guess it's really over, isn't it?
7. The Goat Rodeo Sessions. Because Chris Thile is magic, and Yo-Yo Ma makes him magic-er.
8. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. I played through it four times in one month. Worth every second, friends.
9. Portal 2. I finally got to know one of the best video game franchises out there.
10. Everything Natalie Portman touches. Black Swan was a triumph, and Natalie's well-deserved Oscar proves it.
11. Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire. A practically-perfect television series and the books on which it is based.
12. The Hunger Games. I apologize for every joke I've ever made about Young Adult Fiction, because...amazing.
