theres no real money or business left in detroit, the auto companies are and have been failing for years. plants are being closed and production is being scaled back all the time
'detroit rock' SUCKS, so do most of the bars and restaurants
theres no fucking mountains or oceans or nice parks, just a bunch of shitty lakes that are all the same. the great lakes are pretty, sure, but theyre over polluted and you can only swim in them for three months out of the year if youre lucky.
the weather sucks, it was 77 on tuesday, it is currently 43
everyone i know is either pregnant/had children at 19 or high all the time/on probation
theres no easy way to get from one place to another because of the aformentioned fucking lakes spread out fucking everywhere
fact: 62.3% of 18-64 year old people living in the detroit metro area live within 15 miles of their birthplace. of all the marriages in oakland county between 1996 and 2006, only 43% last more than five.
while oakland county is the 4th richest in the united states, 56% of that wealth is located in 4 of the 26ish cities (if you count avon/annexing of other nearby areas). another way to put it is that if a group of five people have $100 between them, four of them have $11 and one has $56
the 'famous' people from my town as listed on wikipedia are football or hockey players, a death metal band, and one of my high school drumline instructors (he moved to la because he knew how much it sucks to be here)
