24 Hours of Science Fiction Movies

Feb 25, 2009 23:23

I received the announcement today that the 26th Annual Ohio 24 Hour Science Fiction Marathon will blast off at noon Saturday, March 28 at the Drexel Theatre, Bexley.  The film list hasn't been posted yet, but they are including Logan's Run and Star Trek:  The Wrath of Khan in this schedule.

It will be interesting to see if Spock makes it into the Hall of Fame this year (he peaked with 16 or 17 votes back in 1999 or 2000).  The crowd has been known to boo Star Trek or Star Wars costumes during the costume contest.

I remember Star Trek:  The Wrath of Khan as a date movie back in 1982 at my undergraduate college with a Malaysian woman named Hasnah Hussein.  She was so pissed when Spock died that she couldn't wait to get home and fire off an angry letter to the studio.  I left home for a summer job a few days later and never saw her again (her family forced her to return to Malaysian to escape the corrupting influences of Ohio after her roommate found that we were exchanging letters).
