I noticed the light especially early on. It may well have been ep 2. There was a bit in the airport (I think) where it was so bright in through the windows yet clearly so different to Australian light. And then the landscape in the last couple of episodes, when he finally got to Iceland - when he was driving through the (dawn? or twilight) I kept thinking how different it looked and how it would feel to either be home at last (or to be back in this place you'd grown up in but wasn't home). Like how I feel when I get back to WA after Europe. Mind you, I don't know exactly how different that landscape is to Denmark.

The characters: I know *exactly* what you mean. I liked all the characters but I did have some favouritism... I'm wrestling with what I think about the series being all about Hallgrim (which it clearly was right from the start, so it's not like that was sprung on us unexpectedly) and what that means with certain other characters having importance mostly in how they affected *him*. You know, is that dodgy? It sounds it when I phrase it like that - "role in the story is to cause the Main Guy angst".

I don't think I saw it all that way, at least not universally. I agree the women who related most closely to him (thinking here Marie, his sister and Frida) certainly were central to his story and responsible for disrupting his peace of mind. But I think that others, especially Ditte and Villy, had quite strong arcs of their own. I'm sorry that we didn't get more of Nazim's background because it seemed interesting, and the reason we don't or rather only get hints, might be due to him being "not the Main Guy" as you say.
