Yes, I like traveling on my own, actually.
I sit down in the dining car across from these two nice ladies -- mother and daughter I think. They were on their way back to Somewhere, NC from having visited NY with a big school group. They asked what I was up to and seemed astonished that I was a group of 1 on this train. I went on to mention there are a number of people I'll be meeting in New Orleans and the mom said "Oh, well thank heavens for that! I was about to make you get off the train with us!" She was very sweet, and it's just funny that she assumed I was a victim of unfortunate circumstances and must be unhappy. There's always someone who finds the solo traveling idea unthinkable. I'm good, thanks..... in fact, you should try it sometime. I wouldn't recommend it for EVERY trip one takes but it certainly has its place.
