On the Road

So I seem to have gotten away with two days to spare, with books, two of those ‘tow behind’ kid buggies for my bike, and a couple of backpacks and stuff. I found a good car battery, and since I was in a building with electronic-building equipment, I put together a little plug thing that I should be able to attach to most car batteries and suck ‘em dry to charge my stuff. I can also make a bike-powered generator, grabbed some stuff for that too. I’ll run out of power as soon as I run out of legs.

I finally caved in and went back into the library. No way that ‘climate controlled’ room is going to stay that way for long. So I grabbed a case they use to store things in transit, and grabbed a couple important things. Holy crow guys, I have a Gutenberg Bible in my possession. I had no clue that was in there, but I took my time and made sure I grabbed stuff that seemed important enough to take with me. When I left, I barricaded the place, and made sure everything was as air-tight as I could make it. Might as well give everything in there a fighting chance.

So now I’m on the road. I figure I’ll take my chances. The little pull-buggies are tied and duct taped together, and I don’t think they’re particularly off-road worthy, but if I’m in a situation where I need to go off road, whether or not they stay attached won’t be my first priority, I think. All my necessities I keep in the backpacks I'm keeping on me. That way, if I loose the buggies, I still have what I need to survive.

So here I am, on the side of the road, sitting on the roof of a bus, because I can, and it lets me see anything coming a lot better than sitting on the ground. I’m heading south. I have a while before Winter hits, but I don’t want to be where it’s likely to snow, makes survival a lot easier. Heat is easy enough, it’s a matter of keeping hydrated and out of the sun. Winter is easy to run out of stuff and to get snowed in. Now I just need to decide east-ish or west, since I’m essentially on the East Coast.

Do I brave Tornadoes? Or Hurricanes?
