I celebrate the winter solstice, the turning of the season as the dark begins to retreat and the light to gain in power. The energy changes its flavour and the world begins to remember and anticipate the return of spring
Why, because I am pagan, I am connected to nature and I feel it's workings, its turnings in my body.
I am not Wiccan, I guess the closest tradition or path to what I am is the path of chaos magic, but I do not call myself a chaos magician.
For me to call myself a magician is to seperate some phenomena or workings out as magic is to make them different or unnatural. I work with chaos, with primal energy. I do not view this as seperate or unnatural or supernatural. For me all is natural or it could not exist, therefore I continue on my path a child of chaos, a dancer in chaos, a wielder and manipulator of chaos, not a magician.
I do not have any special powers or abilities, all that I do anyone could do if they took the time to attune with nature and begin to feel its weave within their own bodies and minds. Yes for me healing comes easily, but that is no different than the way for me that studying comes easily. An abundance of talent in certain directions is not the same as a special power. Which does not mean that I do not value this talent, rather it means that I have the discernment to know that it does not make me special.
