I have absolutely no meta or thoughts besides spazzy ones regarding the OTP in this drama, so I'm not even going to bother attempting to review the first 6 episodes I've seen. I'm waiting for both episodes 7 and 8 to be fully subbed before I watch because this is the kind of drama that demands QUALITY.
SERIOUSLY, WHY SO PRETTY? alsfkdjflaskdjgaslkdcvna, sdjhvbgaksd I ship them SO HARD.
ICONS. I should post these in
biconic but meh, it's late, I'm lazy to number, so whatever :P
Thanks to this show I am crushing on Lee Min Ho, which is a bit hard to explain to myself, because I do not find him particularly attractive (he is perfectly good looking, just not my usual type)... nor do I think he is an extraordinary actor, but there's something about him that makes his characters seem better than they are written.
Thus, I've been watching Personal Taste. MY GOD THIS SHOW IS HILARIOUS. I can't believe how dirty most of the jokes in the first few eps were!!
Except!! It seems to have taken a dramatic turn around episode 7... I am proceeding VERY CAUTIOUSLY because much can go wrong here. So far it has managed to maintain a balance between deriving comedy out of misunderstandings over a person's sexual orientation - largely helped by Lee Min Ho playing his character completely 100% straightlaced - and the understanding that outing a gay person is serious, especially in a reserved society like Korea. I don't know if we're supposed to laugh or cringe when Kae In repeatedly blurts out "HE'S GAY!" but I'm inclined to believe the latter. I was reassured by her crying about it and berating herself, but we'll see.
All things aside, the central relationship in this is so, so lovely. I adore Kae In and her humongous heart. She definitely is a little puppy completely ready to love the entire world; it's a joy watching her make overtures of friendship to the stoic Jin Ho. There's such tenderness and caring in the way he hesitantly allows himself to befriend her - I love that he's both attracted to and fearful of how open she is to forming attachments, especially when he knows her trust in him isn't completely deserving. Their romance isn't earth shattering but it feels rock-solid. A man who is willing to run out in the middle of a fancy party crucial to his career to buy emergency kotex for you is a KEEPER.
Conclusion: I love Lee Min ho. But still not enough to watch the rest of BoF.
