not drifting, just waiting

I feel a bit sorry for those of you I recently added as friends since this is the first post you're getting, but it's overdue and I have been promising it for ages. Truth be told, this post is mostly an exercise in giving my side-Tumblr a rest, because I use it far too many times to rant about various aspects of

That's perfectly fine if you're not all that into Doctor Who! It's definitely one of those shows that might be more of an acquired taste for some people, because it can be a bit silly and add at times. But a part of me hopes that you do eventually catch up if you ever want to try again, because I especially adored the latest series (series five).

I wouldn't necessarily go so far to say that it's a feminist show (and I think this post that I discovered on Tumblr helps pinpoint for me why), but you're absolutely spot on about there being no shortage of competent, wonderful, interesting female characters. I agree with you also on Amy's outfits. They aren't nearly as bad as I've seen some people make them out to be. She dresses age-appropriately. Hell, even Rose donned short skirts on a couple of occasions, but I don't recall her getting flack for it. Still, the whole point is that the wardrobe shouldn't even be an issue and it doesn't make her a "less credible" character because she chooses to wear mini-skirts sometimes. Yeesh.

I definitely appreciate the time you took to read all of this, even if you're not into the show. I'm actually amazed that anyone would do that, so it really means a lot :)
