Today and yesterday developments
So I found out about this site called Roomies....went on, saw an ad that looked good ($800), made arrangements to meet the guy and look at the spot after we exchanged quite a few messages and got a call in and now text...
Had a time getting there! Made a wrong turn at Komohana but only by 20 mins, Google Maps doesn't direct you verbally anymore + accuracy was low....at first I was thinking the place looks nice, think I can fit stuff in the room, but started to feel off about him talking about some of his rules of the fridge, trash and make sure not to buy stuff that hogs up the fridge or trash... I'm not going to get into specifics but after hearing him mention like 3 different renters leaving after just 1-2 months when they agreed to 6, I thought it had to do w/his weird ways re: food and trash, like he DROVE them away....why when I came home, felt stuck, went though few more ads, sent messages, decided to pay whatever if I stayed past the 1st....
So I was debating actually taking this spot....but eventually got talked into taking it, confirming that there is a lock on the door that I can at least use at night and ended up giving him the $800 deposit, getting the keys tomorrow ( + paying him the $800 rent then, had to Call Off at the Pizza Place) as my sister is helping me move just easy stuff ( my fitness stuff, clothes, saimins, pantry packed up stuff, books maybe if dump pantry stuff on the bed in the space, bed he doesn't want to move, some bathroom stuff, maybe even fridge/freezer stuff)....
Even getting help from him on Sunday as he has a truck w/an 8 foot bed so he thinks he can get the couch, table, chairs and my 3 bikes all in one shot....he also said there's a gated storage area in the back where I can put my bikes and stuff is usually safe there, no bums walking around, etc...he explained more about how some renters made him mad bc they were lazy and kept mixing up the recycled stuff w/trash ( any tin cans, so Spam/tuna, veggies), not doing the food compost, not cleaning the shower but he does want you to get the big yogurt tubs vs the small cups and not do fruit cups as they hog fridge and trash, so I'm ok w/that as I like canned fruit, bananas and that..& he doesn't do fast food in the house so will have my free pizzas on the way home ( find somewhere to dump the box) & eat my McDs after work, etc..
Going to try to have the Walk Through w/my old landlord on Halloween, texting her after I get all my stuff in the new place, doing a quick clean up, cleaning as I go, etc and not paying her anything for November that way:)! My Aunt said I could store my bed I have here at her place so working on a good time for Sunday or Monday..
