I really liked the veggie bulgogi dish I made a few wks ago...might even try it in the Adobo seasoning packet I picked up from Longs ( need to get it from Walmart, it is 30 cents cheaper and I already go there 3x/week)...also need to get ALL my food there ( - a few things only Safeway carries n the Kelly Boy cookies that are only at KTA ( + the refried beans for $1.19 vs $1.80 at Walmart)..as I was debating getting the cases of canned goods at CostULess ( 12 pack of tuna, depending on brand, $12-$15), box of Barilla pasta was $1.80, beef stew can was $2.50 for Dinty Moore yesterday & today while I was buying fitness stuff at Walmart ( yeah, a lot cheaper than $340 a year at The Y), picked up a 4 pack of tuna for $3.34! I could get 12 for $10 vs $15! + the Great Value pasta boxes were $1.32 ( Barilla was $1.62)...
I also scored on Eggo waffles and Tostino's pepperoni pizza! Box of 24 waffles & a 4 pack box of pizzas for $6 EACH! Sam's Cola was $2.94 for a 12 pack and I got 3 tomato sauces/diced tomato products for ($2.20 total) the Chili Mac I am making tomorrow ( using the rest of the pinto beans can after I make my Mexican rice n beans dinner), & instead of using ground beef ($6/lb here at Walmart), I am using canned chicken. I am going to try the Spam/mac and cheese, a dal recipe made from scratch next week, Poorman's Potatoes and see how many days of leftovers each dish nets me as a way to make staples carry me over into the week and next week, I am going to try a homemade mac and cheese that uses evaporated milk ( can't find a half gallon here, only a gallon for $6!)..
I also picked up a pizza sauce for $1.20 and the great tasting Great Value Texas Toast 5 cheese for $2.12 ( get 2 meals out of this as I make 4/dinner) and this way, I am NOT having to eat a large frozen cheese pizza for $6-8 depending on the brand for 2 meals..
Tomorrow I am going to Target to get a cheap toaster ($10) since Walmart here is out of stock of their $11.30 Mainstays toaster and if I want to wait for their shipment on the 8th, no.. good thing lentils are cheap no matter where you go and I should be able to find it, the evaporated milk and turmeric spice for less than $6 total..
I had a job interview this past Tuesday that I applied for over the weekend, but it is 6 miles away and ALL uphill/one road in location so after I signed off, kinda didn't want to face that battle every day I work, biking ok if late at night ( remote location means bums are out and maybe drunk, etc) and so it is almost 3:30 PM here and I am supposed to hear today if I got it; and I am hoping the lateness means no..I haven't even been unemployed for a month yet...if it is THIS time next month, then I will try to take ANYTHING ( aka why I took my former job hehe!) as I am not getting Unemployment OR foodstamps...
Have to decide on when I get my rear rack put on, if I want it to be the one that GOES with the Topeak MTX Trunk bag or if I want to get the fancy but needed water proof saddlebags, or if I want to get the big bike basket and try to get a rain cover for it or just use my green panniers...I did buy a Ulock/cable combo from Mid Pacific Wheels the other day.
It is from Giant, it is the Protector DT 2 and I really like that is wide enough to get it through my tire and triangle and the cable can get the other wheel. The guy said as long as your bike is locked up with something/daylight/not 9 PM, you are good, just like back in Rockford. The other Ulock he had was from Kryptonite, it was 5/10 security and I literally saw a BikeLawyer YouTube vid of their 6/10 one and he picked it within a minute as I came home for a quick bite/drink/research!
I also checked out Hilo Bike Hub the same day and they had just 2 Kryptonite Ulocks, $1 for $45 & 1 for $60 and neither came with a cable. I swung around and walked the 3 blocks back to MPW and got the VERY LAST Giant Ulock/cable for $55 w/tax.
This Ulock is bigger than my frame bag and for a second I was thinking of getting an extra large bag or the Huld It holster ones are nice, but I like the strapping it to your top tube/bottom tube with a belt even better..
I am finally using my FHB card since my Midland card has served it's purpose all the way til last weekend. I am still keeping it open since I am getting my monthly $50-$80 social experiment program $ still in there and am closing my Savings acct there too.
My 3 packages from IL were supposed to be delivered by August 18th, then August 25th and now today, just says IN TRANSIT w/last scanning of Cali..should have been scanned out and either on it's way to Kona>Hilo or Hilo by now! Mean they're lost? I also have a ThriftBook book coming by Thomas E Mails of the Plains Indians:Dog Soldiers book and it last scanned on the 16th..
I ate IN a restaurant last week for the 1st time in a year and a half! Nice little restaurant right around the block w/really good prices! Really good social distancing of every 2-3 tables having ppl sit, doors wide open and windows open too..I will definitely go back maybe in a week or 2 to try their grilled mahi w/fries as their burger/fries are good!
I ordered Performance Inspired protein powder this morning as it was 'on sale' at Walmart.com ( but not sold IN my Walmart..)..but with paying extra for S&H, it came out to standard price ($28) and I am going to do Darebee bodyweight workouts for a few days/week( first day was last night), do NTC 30 min yoga once( if I like it, trying it today) or 2x/week and try their 10 min yoga 1/week and do a Strength training vid I have saved ( missed ya, Bettina!) once a week..might have convinced my sister to try some of these things too!
I hope this and my replacement ITEM from 4Patriots doesn't take as long as my other packages to get to me..secretly hope they throw in a Mac and Cheese or Alfredo pasta cuz I already have to wait 7-14 days just for it to SHIP, so might not get it for 3-4 wks in reality. They had the gall to then say hey, want to get our 3 month kit too?
