(no subject)
I loved seeing Rashida Talib's dead on response to Mark Meadows pointing out that Trump had a black person working for him so how can he be racist (in yesterday's Cohen testimony)? Jim Jordan sucks and Nick was right by saying Reps were going to try to delay asking actual questions. I would have liked to have watched the Cohen trial during downtime yesterday but Keira's walking in and saying Cohen's just going to tell people ' what they want to hear'. Just then the Chairman Committee guy spoke about Cohen producing documents and signatures and I said hey at least he's got evidence! Then she started talking about so what if Trump cheated, Bill Clinton and Kennedy cheating on their wives but that doesn't mean they weren't good Presidents and same goes for Trump. I then mentioned Trump lying about Russia and she said Obama liked. I said oh yeah about what and she just said 'a lot of stuff'.
Deanna was around while this was going on and after Keira left, I said I don't care what she thinks, I like Obama, he turned the housing market around, got ppl working again, got down $2 Trillion of our deficit thanks to Bush and as we walked past Keira, I started talking about how Michelle was working w/ the schools to get kids active and healthier lunches and it wasn't just talk, you saw her running around w/ them at every school event and at some White House events too.
I would have loved to talk about the wall, the shutdown and how the detained kids are being abused now and does that mean Trump is still doing good to Keira but she is for the wall and would have said the parents shouldn't have been trying to illegally cross in the first place, etc. I couldn't remember if Trump actually made the $2 Billion Medicaid cuts or not but know it's a looming thought for a lot of ppl still. I wanted to bring up how are the coal miners in Virginia doing since Trump took office 2 years ago but decided to just let it go. I think this was a little bit of me projecting how I wanted to respond to 2 co-workers talking about Jussie Smollett being gay, then Modern Family and how commercials are showing gay/ lesbian couples and gay/lesbian parents raising kids now like it's normal when it's disgusting on Monday. But if you say anything, you get accused of things...same w/ racist crap too...like why does it bother you? Monday also sucked since we had NO heat for half the day and temps were in the negatives w/ 13 MPH winds already ( repeated Tues so 2 days of not feeling good).
I worked all day yesterday and got today off instead of doing a 2nd short shift. It was hard though since we had just finished hellacious SV w/ PO Boxes but we got done before 5. One of our coworkers is having a baby shower at work next week and a lot of us are just getting her something but debating going, since we don't really know her and are on more of an accquaintance level rather than friends.
I ordered my Ashland stuff and got Trail Magic, Survival Instincts ( apocalptic book w/ 2 lesbians), Cross Training WOD Bible 2.0 ( featuring wall ball, bike, dumbbell, kb and ropes workouts while other books feature these as individual categories) and a CD case.
Biking lately has been tricky ( but better since I raised my seat higher thanks to Kegel's stop last Friday). We got some snow on Tuesday and I biked over an icy stretch but this time started to fishtail Tues. I stopped and was scared bc the ice was all around n I still had a big stretch to go. I ended up foot walking my bike since my attempt to bike had the front tire slip a little afterwards (still had minor almost slips tho). Then as I was walking my bike uphill by a school, I felt like Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing on the log as I was pivoting my feet sideways on the trampled iced sections of 'the grass'/almost slipping vs the slick standing water now iced the hell over 2 concrete slabs on the sidewalk. Weird seeing all the white and realizing it's all ice and NOT snow!
I finally got to report Walgreens, a church, a nursing home, US Bank and a new restaurant
yesterday for not getting up ANY of the ice/ snow of their sidewalks, forcing ppl and myself to walk in the street for 3 whole blocks and dealing w/ the harrassing treatment from drivers. Nowadays, I do half sidewalk biking and bike in the street when it's clear (and sidewalks are too tricky). I did bike up the school hill yesterday:)!
The church sidewalk as of yesterday. You can see it extends all the way down to where US Bank is and Walgreens is behind me.
The restaurant entrance. Has 2 empty slabs and then big stretch of ice like the 1 I have biked over 2 blocks prior and is my last pic here too.
My hill before work. Can't bring myself to bike down this as of last Friday. It's thicker and slickier now. Business is closed btw..
The stretch I have biked over before but Tues, got stuck. Issue is the middle is also getting worn down n slickier too by my riding all last week/week before while the sides get bumpy. This business is closed though so no City 'help' by forcing owner to remove it ( otherwise it stays like the business is closed n we can't expect the City to remove the ice from abandoned businesses or residential houses in town ( abandoned or occupied), so they choose none. I feel like taking a hammer to it and other sections I find where the City isn't helping...
2/28/19:1 PM: Went to Target, Aldi's, Dollar Tree and Burlington ( scored a great steel wok w/ a wooden handle for $8.50 cheaper than Target!) and just got back an hour ago. Got my usual things from $ Tree ( figured this stop was better than trying to go to the 1 by my house, it was, no ice at all) / Aldi's and at Target got a baby shower gift on her registry that was practical ( not a wipe warmer or diaper organizer), my puff hotdogs, new Brazi Bites oven baked cheese bread and Kodiak Cakes frozen flapjacks ( throw away never going to use mix). Good productive day off in my attempt to avoid the bitter cold of this weekend-Monday ( lows are in the negatives and highs are barely mid teens!).
I like the show Project Blue Book but it is hard determining fact from fiction (from events on the show to characters on the show). I like The Enemy Within and Proven Innocent too. Redbox rentals lately: Bohemian Rhapsody, Can You Ever Forgive Me and Widows. Tried to get Blackkklansman but card wasn't working at the box again:(. Getting that, Venom and If Beale Street Could Talk soon.
