Adventure must start

Walking down the streets of Hogsmeade, Seamus wrapped his hands tighter around the steaming cup of warm Butterbeer. It was his day off and it was his right, no his duty, to rescue his friends from a life of drudgery and little excitement. Grinning as he rounded the corner of the street, the Irishman caught sight of Healing Hands. Apparently Ginny was going to be his companion through the day.

“Just rub it in three times a day, and it should heal up.”

“Can I do it more and make it heal faster?”

“No,” Ginny said, suppressing the desire to roll her eyes. This was the third time Mr. Waterby had been to Healing Hands with this same problem and nothing Ginny said seemed to help him from doing it over and over, resulting in this rash. “Three times a day, no more, no less. Otherwise you won’t see any change. And you want there to be a change, right?”

The man nodded once, though Ginny had the feeling she’d be seeing him in a couple months, before making his way from the clinic. Blowing a bit of hair from her face, Ginny shook her head and made her way back to her office. Taking a seat, she leaned back in her chair, letting her eyes fall closed as she ran a hand over her face.

Seamus held the door open for the bloke heading out, slipping through the door and having a wander through the waiting room. “What’s up, doc?” he called, smiling to himself as he remembered the cartoons he used to watch with his da on Saturday mornings. “Gin?”

Blinking at her name being called, fairly certain she’d not had anymore appointments on the schedule for the rest of the night, Ginny rose from her seat and stuck her head out the door. “Hello?”

“What’s up, doc?” Seamus grinned as he saw Ginny’s head stick out of a doorway. “Where have ye, been lass? I’ve been missing yer pretty face.”

Ginny grinned, shaking her head as she made her way down the hall and towards Seamus. “Well, you haven’t sent any rowdy bar-goers my way for a little bit,” she answered, leaning forward to press a kiss to his cheek. She’d gotten to know Seamus during school. She’d been glued to his best mate’s side for almost a year, and then friends with Dean after that. Ginny had seen a lot of Seamus over the years. “How’ve you been?”

“Can’t complain.” Seamus dropped into a free seat, stretching his legs out in front of him. “They’ve been behaving themselves, Merlin be glad.” He didn’t always fancy breaking up fights and the like. The less he had to do so, the better. It made going home at night that much easier. “Now, I always do send them this way.”

“‘cause it’s closer than St. Mungo’s,” Ginny said with a grin, falling into the seat beside him.

That wasn’t the only reason, if rumors proved true, but Seamus wasn’t going to discuss that. “Perhaps, but I’ve no interest in discussing business with ye. ‘Tis time to come out and have some fun.”

Ginny let out a large sigh, “I’m way too tired to do anything tonight, Seamus. Not all of us share your endless supply of energy.”

Now it was time for him to sigh. “Ye cannot stay in all the time, Ginny. Else ye will tun into a kneazle lady. I refuse to see that happen to such a pretty lass.”

Rolling her eyes at his compliment, she patted his knee. “I’m already an old kneazle lady, I just don’t have the kneazles. Besides, why would you want to be seen out with me? I’m sure there’s plenty of bargirls that would love to be shown the town by Mr. Finnigan.”

“I have no need for a random bar girl, now.” Seamus fixed her with a pointed look. “And if ye really want to be a kneazle lady I guess we shall just have to get ye a bloody kneazle kitten.” He didn’t need a whole lot of excitement and all that rot, had his fill in school thanks.

Laughing, Ginny shook her head. “You need something, Seamus Finnigan,” she said, standing. “Give me a few minutes to change before you force me out with you?”

He grinned as she agreed to come out. “Gladly. Now what tis it that I need exactly? Ye need to tell me. My poor heart can’t take it.”

Her laughter echoed down the hall as she made her way to her office. Ginny shrugged out of her healer’s robes as she pulled her hair into a ponytail. “You need a great many things. The ability to slow down might be good. How many nights a week are you working now? Six? All seven?”

“Aidan needs the help.” Seamus shrugged. “Tisn’t like I can just say no to the man. It’s only five for yer information.”

“I know. You love what you do, but apparently you can’t let your job become your life. Or so people keep telling me,” Ginny said as she toed out of her flats and back into the heels she’d started the day in.

Seamus stood as she walked back into the room. “Aye, but I know when to leave, unlike some people I could mention.” He eyed her. “So what would ye like to do, Miss Weasley? The night is yers for the taking.”

“I wouldn’t even know where to start,” Ginny said, letting her hands drop down to her sides as she gazed at him. “I haven’t gone out in a very long time.”

“Well,” he draped an easy arm over her shoulders. “What were ye in the mood for? Food? Entertainment?” Seamus didn’t have a ton of money to his name, but he had enough to treat a friend out to a nice night out.

Ginny considered being taken out to some sort of club, knowing Seamus would make sure she had a good time, but it had been such a long time since she’d gone out, and she wasn’t feeling up for a huge crowd.

“I could eat,” she finally answered, smiling softly. “And after dinner maybe there can be ice cream?”

“Aye, of course ice cream, but we can’t made a meal out of only ice cream.” Of course they could, Merlin only knows he had done it enough with his brothers, but what his mam didn’t know when Seamus was watching the twin terrors, the better for Seamus. “What do ye think? Gulliver’s Glen or are ye thinking ethnic?”

“Gulliver’s sounds delicious.” It was close, and she’d be nearby in case there were any emergencies. “Lead the way, kidnapper.”

He poked her in the side. “Tisn’t kidnapping, Gin. Tis surprise adoption.” A customer had used the phrase the other night and he found it amusing. Still, he led her out onto the street. “And ye shall enjoy yer night out on the town, promise.”

“‘Surprise adoption’? I don’t know if that sounds any better, but I guess we’ll see,” Ginny said with a sideways glance out of her eyes at Seamus.

“Sounds friendlier,” he promised her with a nod. “So how has Healing Hands been going now? I suppose well since we never seem to see ye anymore.”

“It’s good,” she answered, “but busy. Between this clinic, the one in Diagon, and helping out at Sara Prep, we’ve been doing a lot of healing.” St. Mungo’s had been turning away more and more patients, enough so that Ginny wondered how they were still able to function. She supposed when you had enough ‘high level’ clients, you were able to get by. And since that seemed to be the only type of people they saw anymore, they were doing fine.

“I keep meaning to stop by and see you, there just always seems to be an emergency, or I get upstairs and just collapse into bed. Healing is a tiring business.”

“Upstairs?” Seamus turned around and looked at the clinic. “Now that’s just bad, Gin. Not even I do that.” No, he lived in a different part of London all together. “Now ye never can get away and recharge.”

Ginny leaned into his side as they walked, stealing some of his warmth. “It’s better to be close, in case anything happens. I knew what I was taking on when I became a Healer. I don’t mind it too much. I don’t do well when I’ve got nothing to do. You know what they say about ‘idle hands’.”

“Devil’s playthings,” Seamus finished the phrase. It was one of his grandmother’s favorites. “But having a few hours to yerself each night isn’t being selfish.”

“I’m not good when I have a few hours to myself at night,” Ginny said, voice softer now. “Besides, if I took too much time to myself, I wouldn’t have the time available for a friend to kidnap me. Oh,” she grinned over at him, “I mean adopt me for a night.”

He grinned. “And ye’ve caught me there, Gin. So how about now we have ice cream first?”

“You spoil me, Finnigan.”

Summary: Seamus visits Ginny and kidnaps adopts her for a night on the town.
