And the bruises that you feel will heal

People had been confused at first at the bakery by the appearance of Hera's patronus. Angelina had immediately rushed towards the cottage on the north side of Hogsmeade. It was clear as she got close that no one was home, that Hera's patronus hadn't been sent from inside the darkened windows.

Changing direction, running back towards the bakery, she started to see people heading in small groups towards the clinic. Heart hammering just a bit quicker in her chest, she pushed herself towards the front doors, elbowing her way past the crowd that was beginning to gather.

"Hera!?"

"Yes? Angie? Don't shout. I'm back here."

When Angelina appeared in the doorway looking harried, Hera held up a hand. "We're all fine. A little worse for the wear, but Marcus showed up before he could kill her. I can't say I've never been in a fight now."

Theo stepped up next to Angelina. "Astoria's next door. It looks worse than it is."

Angelina's dark eyes turned to look at Theo as they widened. "Astoria?" She knew what had happened, had been warned that it might, but knowing it would happen and having it happen were very different.

She could have stayed and asked Theo if Astoria was right, but she didn't even register that her feet had carried her towards the room they'd indicated the blonde was in. She stood in the doorway, eyes taking in the woman laying in the bed. "Tor?"

Astoria groaned as she pushed herself up. "You just missed Marcus. He needed air. Poor dear. He's not cut out for watching Ginny heal me. Oh wipe that look from your face. I didn't die. Oh I feel terrible, and it hurts when I swallow, and I'm sure I sound like I have been gargling with rocks or something, but look... alive. I'm very happy. Hera wasn't supposed to interfere. She changed it. She was not supposed to be there. Maxie and I were supposed to both of us die, but we're both alive. If I wasn't sore all over, I'd dance."

Moving farther into the room, gaze drawn to the dark marks around the blonde's neck, Angelina nodded, tongue darting out to lick her lips. There were things she wanted to say, but couldn't seem to do so. The cuts on Astoria's face and arms were closed, healing, but still marring her skin. He really had tried to kill her.

"Is he dead," she finally asked, close enough now that her hand was able to reach out and ghost along a bruise on Astoria's neck.

"Not yet," Astoria replied. "Marcus has him hidden. He'll be disposed of in due time. And Hera and I will be telling the Aurors he apparated away while Marcus was tending us. Her doesn't know that as of yet, but she agrees. I've seen it. Our Bear was more worried for me than for disposing of something that damaged one of his possessions. Strange as it sounds, I am warmed of heart to have that knowledge."

She gripped Angelina's hand.

"I'm going to be fine. This has proved to me that nothing is certain. I will endeavor to not be so fatalistic in the future... because I actually have one."

"I'm glad you realized that, as I've been making plans and it'd have been very hard to adjust them as most of them feature the both of you, not just one." Angelina shook her head as she took a seat next to the bed. "Will you have scars?"

"Ginny says not, but she can't seem to make the bruises fade. He must have done something there. I don't know if my skin will be discolored like this forever. I should hope not. Will you think me ugly if it is?"

"You could be entirely purple and I'd think you beautiful, Tor," Angelina said, eyes touching on Astoria's with seriousness.

Astoria tugged Angelina into a hug. She could sense the other woman's reluctance to hurt her inadvertently.

"You could never hurt me. This pain means I am alive, so hold me. I would not waste another second of our time."

{SUMMARY} Angelina comes to check on the wounded.
