If you can dodge a wrench...

[...and this takes place at about Five PM this evening.]

"Will someone other than Ambercrombie and Moody dodge a goddamed hex?! It's like watching a bunch of retards trying to hump a doorknob out there!" Auror Houlihan was not pleased by the performance of most of the trainees that he'd seen, with a few possible exceptions. "I guess that we're going to have to go and try something that won't leave the lot of you bruised and bloodied. I wanna see all of you ladies here at the same time tomorrow. Dress for Physical training, and leave your wands in your locker. Now hit the showers before I change my mind and start throwing real hexes at you."

He wheeled his way out of the training room, slammed the door behind him, and headed on down the corridor toward his office.

Houlihan was one of the increasing number of old Aurors coming out of retirement. Because he had taken reductor curse to the back when he'd been fighting death eaters twenty-five years earlier, he was confined to a wheelchair and assigned to training. His first assignment: Get the rooks up to speed on duelling and fighting with wands.

Today had been the first day that he'd held a class, and his teaching style was definitely of the "trial by fire" variety.

Most of the trainees limped to some degree or another as they made their way to the locker rooms. Verity came up beside Levi and remarked, "Just what I needed... A broken boyfriend on my birthday."

He laughed, and immediately regretted it. "I admit that our plans may need to be more sedate, seeing as I appear to have cracked a couple of ribs," he responded. "I do think that perhaps we ought to go low-key instead."

She smiled. "It's probably for the best. I'm not sure I have enough energy to go to a club tonight. That was a lot of running around. What about a film?"

"I think we can manage that. We'll still do dinner as planned, though."

"At this mysterious restaurant which apparently has no name."

"No, it has a name. I'm just not telling you what it is," he replied, cheekily. He chuckled and then said, "Ow."
