(no subject)
So Geneda (another waitress) looked at me today, gave me a sideways hug and said "I don't know if anyone has told you this yet, but I think you're a great addition to this team. You're a great worker."
I felt warm and fuzzy for about an hour. No, as a matter of fact no one had told me that. People had just yelled at me a lot, in varying volumes and degrees of anger. Some people even yelled very nicely, but the closest thing I got to being complimented before that was someone saying "well you don't have to do this for a living...that's why you're going back to school."
Ok that's not true..my manager tells me I'm doing a good job pretty regularly. It just seems so much like she's pressing a play button somewhere. But I guess even that should count as a compliment. It just felt so rewarding to be told in such an emphatic way by someone that I'm not only hindering, but learning and helping and getting better and actually contributing.
In other news, I miss Mamou a lot. I feel alone and bad at everything but also older.
