My reward for finishing my powerpoint presentation I must present tomorrow afternoon... However I got nothing else done for any of my other classes.  orz

I am itching to write some fanfiction... sigh...

Yes, I know that is precisely right because it's been a strange habit I've formed within the last few years. College and the military seemed to have sucked the ability to take creative risks right out of me! Silly! I always find half written fics and wonder why I never finished them. They are always great later and often I despise them as I'm writing them.

I have gotten quite a few ideas from the tf bunny farm, but only adopted one since I have a few I've thought up as well. I'm trying to get more involved in the Monthly prompts through TF:Prime, tfanonkink, and some other writing competitions available in the communities I'm in. In fact, I'm working really hard to make the Halloween deadline (my favorite holiday!) for the challenges in tfprime and competition fun!

I may take you up on that offer, my grammar isn't perfect, but sometimes I can mess things up. I usually use my sister as a beta, however, she isn't into the Transformers verse for fanfic!

Hopefully I'll get a few Halloween fics out this weekend!

Oh and thanks, KO is so divine! I love all his expressions he makes on that show!

Hm, weird - I always think it's perfect while I'm still writing it, but after it is finished (after the adrenaline high wears off, I guess °-°) I can no longer stand my writing.

Wow, military, seriously?

I'm not much involved in anything in the LJ com's aside from posting what I have finished. I suck at prompts - which I want to change, so if you want me to write something for you, drop me one asap (after I posted the text for it ^-^). I find it really annoying, that I'm not capable of writing something based on someones prompt - so kudos for you trying, that's great! ^-^

Hm, Halloween is not that much of a big topic, here in Germany. What we have is "Matten Matten Meeren" - the kids go from door to door, singing, to get some sweets, without ghost/customes/pranks involved (or at least, I never had to prank someone for not giving anything, back when I still went). Halloween is more something of a party topic or the supermarkets try to sell their stuff with it as advertisement.

Well, I, personally, don't ask my family/friends to beta/read over my written stuff. They always promise to be honest and all that, but they are FAMILY,- they always sugarcoat things or say that they love it, - that's my personal experience, at least. Of course, your experience might be different ^-^ Mostly, I find it difficult, even on LJ, to find someone who's interested in betaing stuff beyond the grammar, sadly.

PS: I really like your icons ^.^ Ratchet's cool, too. Poor bot, when he used that new fuel stuff - he was really strong then, but I would have expected him to know better than to rely on "drugs" °-°

Thanks, Ratchet is my favorite (after Optimus of course) in the Prime:verse. I found it interesting that he tested himself - however it has been done some scientists to test their effectiveness of their study (such as vaccines) in desperation. I think it seemed a little off because the severe lack of energon isn't really put out there for the audience to see. So Ratchet using it almost seemed out of character. However I thought it was great how all the pent up frustrations of being left behind always came up. I always wondered about that!

I come from a family who loves to critique on another. I learned pretty young how to take constructive criticism and try and better myself through it. She does soften the blow of letting me know perhaps an idea or a situation isn't quite 'as awesome' as I might have thought. But she does tell me! I have only had one other beta but in the Harry Potter verse, and she was excellent at bouncing ideas off and discussing how other scenes could go.

It sort of depends on the author and the beta. Some authors and betas only want to correct things like grammar and spelling. Others want to do more! It's hard to find someone that fits well within your expectations and their comfort zone.

That's interesting about your tradition in Germany. I live in Michigan (the mitten state) in a college town. Halloween is an excuse to wear costumes and have a party in this area. Growing up, we dressed up and went to suburbs (they always had the best candy versus neighborhood streets) to trick or treat. Even in high school we would go trick or treating! I haven't carved a pumpkin in years though... but I have a couple friends who throw a pumpkin carving party every Halloween out here (college town) which consists of mulled apple cider and music.

I've never tricked anyone who didn't give me a treat. I've been tempted, but I was too afraid of the consequences. Though in middle school the boys did often 'trick' by toilet papering trees and the school. If Halloween happens to fall on a school day lots of people will wear costumes to class (nothing too risque) and sometimes they do contests. I'm usually a cat when I go to work =)

I like to be really involved in the LJ communities I join. I used to be heavily into the Harry Potter message board and LJ communities - but have taken a few years off since I started school and got married. One of my close friends is a girl I met through Harry Potter RP, a truer friend than those I've gone to school with! I think reaching out to other fans online is a great way to make some really wonderful friendships. =)

I joined the Army at 17 an transferred to the Air Force at 20. I'm out now and fully discharged so no worries about deployment. I put a bid in when I was in the Air Force to go to Germany for a tour - however its a popular mission to volunteer for, I didn't get chosen to go. Too slow!

I have to admit that my fav. incarnation of Ratchet is the war-weary TFA one, but I really love all the cast of TFP, although I'm more of a Decepticon girl when it comes to that particular show. And, sure, scientist's often try stuff out on themselves, but I thought it was OOC for the same reason you named. But on the other hand, it really illustrated his character more, so I really liked it. I'm just wondering if KO managed to get a sample out of the drop he found at the end of the episode...?

Yes, finding a beta that you cannot only work with well, but which you can relate to, is not that easy.

Hm, my father is more one to hyper-criticize, till you feel guilty all-over even if you haven't done anything wrong (or at least not on purpose), - I guess my mum is sugarcoating so much to compensate for that (although I would never even consider showing him my fanfics - all thing that interest me are nonsense and a waste of time to him). But in general, getting an objective opinion out of family is always hard, I think. Great that it works out for you with your sister - that kind of help is invaluable ^-^

College... attending would have been a dream of mine, too - studying economy.
So - a whole town for students? Maybe it's prejudice, but that sounds as if parties are everything but in short supply ^-^
Oh, right, yeah - the boys did the stuff with the toilet paper, and once they hid all the garden gnomes of an elderly couple. If I remember correctly, we girls went back to put them back into place ^-^

The only custome I can remember was that of a ladybug ^-^ But not for Halloween, - here it's either carnival or "Fasching" (depends on the region when you do that and how it's called) when people put costumes on.

That's true, but mostly, when I comment people don't comment back, although I'm certain my comments are not offensive or anything... Ah, well, all different characters and temperaments, I guess. But I found some people I hit if off with, which is good - in RL I only have one friend that shares my hobbies. I guess being a TF/Anime/RPG geek/nerd is more off putting for people of my age-group...

Really? Can't imagine Germany is a popular "post" (?) for people with military background to go to.
