Setting the book in NYC was a little boring for me
I think that's what kept me from buying the book. And this is coming from someone who started her earlier novels in NYC. I wanted something different...

Rob Thurman is actually ROBIN THURMAN,
I love that fact too. Daphne (from SHU) brought up the book at residency and when I told her about the Robin thing, it looked like she didn't believe me. Haha. But if you go to Rob's website, there's a picture of her.

Entanglement...hmm...hope it's for research purposes...

The setting is pretty much not important to the story, and not in a bad way. It's a shame she chose that setting, but it doesn't detract from the book. Don't let that be a reason you don't pick it up. :)

Hee hee, yes, for research, but I totally lifted the title of that book for my own, cause I'm evil like that. :)

My problem was that since it was based in NYC, that it took away from the setting. I live there and it never felt like it was new york and that hurt the book. I also did not really care for Cal. So setting and character were both things I struggled with. lol.

Glad you enjoyed it though!

I've only been to NYC once, but I agree that the setting here was a weakness. It felt like a blank city, but it didn't detract from the book for me. However, you not liking Cal, well, I can see how that'd REALLY affect your enjoyment. :)

I read this book earlier in the year at the recommendation of a friend. I particularly liked the secondary characters, especially Robin Goodfellow, who made the entire story that much more interesting.

If you haven't read them yet, I wonder if you'd enjoy some of Wen Spencer's novels. The urban fantasy ones have a similar feel to this series.

I've heard about Spencer, but haven't had a chance to check her out yet.
